Looking for non-pay to win games!
« on: May 18, 2012, 08:06 PM »
Like the title says, I'm looking primarily for non-pay-to-win games. Well, they should be fun and have atleast a decent PvP system and not 15 years old like some games. I don't really care about graphics, nor do I care if it's 3D or 2D or whatever dimension it's in. So, a non-pay-to-win fun game that has decent PvP and is not ancient. I've tried DC Universe and I was blown away but got banned (need to find some game to fill in the time until the ban lifts). I've also tried lots of anime games and it seems they inheret pay-to-win system with those cell-shaded graphics. I hope you guys direct my attention to a game I couldn't find in my long and patient search.

Have you tried Dragon Nest? While paying for certain things certainly makes it easier to excel at the game, if you're someone that has a good chunk of free time you can basically farm everything up yourself. PVP is pretty decent as well, though unfortunately it doesn't have any large scale PVP.

Thanks for responding, guys.

First of all, Dragon Nest has no official europe servers and I've tried those cherry servers which lagged heavily. Off topic, I've heard that DN has an imba pay-to-win system considering PvP, something like a costume that also gives imba bonuses which doesn't sound very attractive.

league of legends seems to fit your description pretty well.

Well, I've been playing LoL since it went into beta and currently, I'm only doing ranked premades with friends. Since we all have some college obligations, those premades are less and less frequent. I'm not sure I'll quit, depends on my results with other free mmos.

Maybe try www.byond.com.

Well, I'm thankful for the response but I have no idea what this is. :D

Byond is a gaming platform for indie games that are all based on the platforms byond engine.

Some really fun games among those. But they require some patience to get used to the controls.

If you just need some games to waste some time till your ban lifts, byond games would fit to entertain you for a while.

I would try something that's not download-heavy, not something that takes 10 hours to download.
Hence I can suggest looking into the browser game section.

Im searching too for a no-pay-to-win f2p game.. its sad that 90% of the f2p games out there is pay to win (and its not like i dont have money to buy "stuff" its just the whole idea ,having a huge advantage over
f2p players is just too lame! )
only few like lol is not a p2w.. and im bored of it.. so if any1 got a nice game with not p2w features pls reply :[

I would go for 'Path of the Exile' it is a free to play game and is similar to Diablo 2.
It is closed beta now, but the open beta launches in August and will be released after. Look up some gameplay on youtube.

The best thing about this game imho is that is that the company is completely opposed to the concept 'Pay to win'
Here is a quote:  "Path of Exile is completely free to download and play. We never intend to charge for content or access to the released game, but we are happy to offer early Beta access for those who support us during this important time. In order to fund the development and continued expansion of Path of Exile, we offer a range of ethical microtransactions that allow you to distinguish yourself in the world of Wraeclast without receiving any gameplay advantage. We are completely opposed to the concept of “pay2win”"

I'm waiting for it!

Well, from my experience Age of Conan and LoTRO we're good at not being too "pay to win". Age of Conan in particular essentially lets you do all but PvP without making any purchases. Than there are expansions you can buy if you want extra quest. You can do normal PvP without paying, you just can't do sieges/battlegrounds.

I have jumped from my fair share of MMOs, and I have to say that Aion has been the LEAST pay to win I have ever seen. It swapped from p2p to f2p. And I browsed the cash shop and I saw nothing that could break the game. You buy more inventory space with in-game money, you can buy better pets with in game money(they're expensive, but they're permanent I'm pretty sure. There are also pets for more inventory and such in the shop, though they were temporary I think). You can still buy buffs for faster exp and item drops from the cash shop I think. The only thing I saw that a lot of people don't like is the Instance cool downs. It's pretty much one run a day unless you get a reset scroll from the shop, but I figure they have to make money SOMEhow. I tried to lean away from being biased, but this is everything I took notice of.

Wants your exps

Couldn't agree more Path of the Exile is a great game. Highly recommend it, having played 75 hours of Diablo 3 I can honestly say I am going back to play PotE and enjoying it more (this could be because Inferno difficulty in D3 is so freaking hard though haha) :)
