Aion 5.3 Update to Focus on Large-Scale Content
You wouldn't think that a game as old as Aion is would have a huge focus on large-scale content given the typical free-to-play MMORPG player drop off. Patch 5.3, which doesn't have a release date yet, is headed exactly in that direction though as a recent NCSoft post details.
For PvE players, Ereshkigal’s forces have taken this opportunity to lay down attacks on the key cities of Pandaemonium and Sanctum directly. These assaults turn into a 384 player (yes...384 player) PvE instance requiring Archdaevas to battle for their very homelands.
PvP players get the new Arena of Tenacity, a single elimination tournament where players vie for the top spot. New Prime Guardian and Prime Archon equipment can be purchased from the Hall of Fame or Glory provided you've farmed up enough Medals from PvP (and the PvPvE) events.
A new item, Estima, is also being added. Players can equip up to 3 Estima and each Estima can be enchanted up to a +10 level. These items provide an expansion to your Essence Pool allowing for some late game character build customization. A new Atreian Bestiary also gives players the opportunity to play collector and achieve some fun rewards along the way.
We'll keep you posted on a release date!
