Marvel Heroes Closed Beta Begins

When Marvel Heroes was first announced I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. After all in the age of free to play gaming I had spent a good portion of my time reviewing MMO's in a variety of shapes and sizes and do you know what the majority of them had in common? Restricted customization. Yes the ability (or should I say inability) to customize your character. Many Free MMO's either restrict a class to a certain sex but some go so far as to restrict you to a certain sex and THEN prevent you from customizing anything on your character, leaving you as an indistinguishable copy of all the other 59608455 warriors in-game.

So needless to say when I learned that you could not make your own super hero but instead had to choose from iconic characters I was a bit bummed. However after reading more about Marvel Heroes I have to say I get it now. I GET IT! Marvel Heroes lets you be all the super heroes you have ever wanted to be. What could be better then seeing the latest Marvel movie and then coming home and playing said Marvel Hero?

Ok maybe actually having the superheroes would be better but you get my point! Since the creator of Marvel Heroes David Brevik was also behind Diablo (2 not 3) we can most likely expect an experience that at the very least borrows elements from dungeon crawler games such as Diablo. But there are still questions that remain such as; how will the Hulk put his new shiny armor on? Or better yet can he? Now fans can find out the answers to such hard questions.

Starting a few days ago, Gazillion began inviting players to try out their super hero skills with the start of the closed beta. The first batch of invites is unfortunately fairly limited but Gazillion stated that over time they would be inviting more and more players to the closed beta, so there is a good chance that if you want to get in, you will be able to eventually. If you want to take a crack at the beta yourself you can sign up over at the official site.

THANK YOU! I'm glad there is actually an acticle written that understands what gazillion and marvel are doing. I posted a symilar comment on the closed beta announcement article. and yeah, I think playing actual Marvel heros is great and will work, because you have to be pretty rediculously creative to come up with not only better heroes than spider-man, Iron man, Cap, etc.; but you also have to try to convince yourself that your character is deeper and more connected in the world he's playing in than the actual x-men are. Serious, who cares more about what Dr. Doom does in the Marvel universe? Tony Stark, or !mArVeLbOy99!

kudos to you if you have an imagination that can trump 50 years of creative teamwork.

Just read on the official site and it says that closed beta is by invitation only.
Pretty much you sign up for an account, they'll send you a survey you need to fill out about what game you like to play and what systems you have and whatnot, Then when they get the surveys they'll review them then pick a set amount of random people to enter the beta.
It sucks that they're doing it this way but they have their reasons for doing it this way.
Go read on their site for more info on how it all works.
