When it comes to anime inspired MMO’s we have a few to choose from. But when it specifically comes MMOs inspired by the large and vast sea of animes that focus on robots/mechs we have very little to choose from. One of the few choices we have is OGPlanet’s SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online (a mouthful I know).

The chibi-Gundam inspired MMO has been out for over a year now but hasn’t really made a huge splash. OGPlanet hopes to change this with the release of its latest update for the MMO. The update includes a variety of new missions, mobile units and other mechanics.

Besides the standard content update though, the new patch introduces updated graphics and UI changes. The engine has been updated to feature new lighting, shadow and water effects, motion blur and other effects. The update to the UI allows players easier organization of his mobile suit roster.

Players can also expect a new “co-op vs AI” mode where players can face off versus AI controlled units of equal strength. The mode presents a good alternative for those not interested in participating in the games PvP. Speaking of PvP, the MMO was also the recipient of multiple balance tweaks to improve the games core PvP combat.

The update is now live and players are encouraged to go and check out the new changes and additions. Do you think SDGO is a sufficient Gundam MMO? Or do you think the Gundam universe has more to offer in MMO form? Let us know!

Seems nice and all, but I only wish it was available outside the US.

Doesn’t really seem like anything revolutionary. Too chibi for my taste.
