With all the hacking, botting, and other nefarious activity that goes on, account security is all the rage in MMOs these days. Getting someone to link up an authenticator and enable two-factor authentication isn't the easiest thing to do -- not when there are dragons that need slaying -- so a number of companies have taken to offering in-game rewards to entice players. Jagex is the latest to adopt this new trend, offering up a whole week's worth of rewards for security-conscious RuneScape players.

RuneScape's "Customer Support Week" runs until Oct. 9 and directs players to a new character, Count Check, who will give you an idea of how secure your account is, along with an XP bonus and a clue scroll you can decipher to acquire a pair of loot chests. The first chest can be opened by anyone, but you'll need to enable a bank PIN and activate the Authenticator to gain access to the second. Having these security measures in place also grants you one additional Daily Treasure Hunter Key for each.

You can also speak to Count Check to play a support-themed version of The Drop which will grant you the title "The Knowledgeable" if you can answer all 12 questions correctly during the week, as well as an entry to win a goody bag. Finally, just having your bank PIN attached to your account enters you into a drawing to win 12 months of membership.

Overall, it's a lot to offer, and it's for a good reason. Head on over to the RuneScape Customer Support Week web page for more details.

I only use the 2 step account authenticator on the accounts I wanna make sure stay safe. On the accounts I don't care about I don't bother enabling the 2 step account authenticator. But I know a game releasing that is similar to runescape but its a horrible indie dev company who doesn't know what a good game actually is but they got a good idea about playing the game on all devices in my opinion but the game is just pretty bad even for a closed beta. And I don't think they even plan to have a 2 step authenticator like runescape or some of the good MMOs does so not worth it.
