Not content to sit on Trove for a while, Trion Worlds has already announced their next free to play release. Atlas Reactor is a tactical, turn based strategy game where it is ALWAYS your turn. Taking a page out of the Shadowrun and XCOM playbooks, Atlas Reactor adds the unique twist of team combat with simultaneous turns so you won't be sitting around waiting...but you will have to think a bit more strategically.

With players taking turns at the same time, you'll have to think a step ahead of your opponent to make sure your character's attacks land. That's another area were Atlas Reactor hopes to strike a chord with players: characters. Adopting an art style reminiscent of Boarderlands, Atlas Reactor puts a focus on characters and their unique personalities.

Game modes are still being discussed, but expect to see a wide variety of 1v1 to 5v5 gameplay with the ability to play solo against bots or even join a team of bots to take on 5 real world opponents. Each 30 second turn is sure to be filled with creative uses of the environment for attacking, dodging, and counter attacking. Trion Worlds expects matches to last 10-20 minutes.

To get introduced to the characters and to sign up for testing, head over to the Atlas Reactor website. Atlas Reactor is expected to enter PC and Mac Alpha later this year and to release in 2016.

Wait, so they wanted their game to be unique and instantly identifiable and thus are making a game that looks like 99% of other modern games? I.e. "a game that does not take itself seriously" and has cartoonish, "highly stylized look" (with a strong "for kids" vibe)? Sigh.
