Congrats on the weight loss Magicman. How important is a good Party finder app to a game. This is my favorite feature in my current game Aura Kingdom. A friend of mine decided to ty the game because of this feature. I am a casual player with a catch as catch can play schedual. 95% of my playing time has been solo, but now I have had sessions in which over 75% of the playing time has been in group play,

I’m don’t think there’s any place left on the market for new big P2P “games for everyone”. It is simply impossible to first make the game both big and good enough to attract the masses and then keep adding new content fast enough to keep them paying for subscription. From what I’ve seen over the past years, P2P games can survive by either:
    a) having niche gameplay which attracts and cultivates super loyal playerbase;
    b) going free to play or buy to play some time after launch;
    c) being World of Warcraft.

WildStar is not a niche game, nor does it have a loyal playerbase apparently. It’s also not WoW, so it’s F2P/B2P or death for them. Whether or not it should go F2P within the next 3 months, I’m not entirely sure. What I know is that the less players they’re going to have, the worse things will get. After a certain point the game would become not just unprofitable, but also unplayable. If they reach that point, even going F2P won’t do them much good.

Bottom line: if they won’t be able to increase the number of active players per server, then they should go F2P/B2P.

My DA-Bomb goes to Magicman for coming back to MMOBomb. I’m grateful to those who kept this place alive, but everything just wasn’t the same without him. Damn, that “Helloo, internet!” brings back memories…
    P.S. A-Bomb to the mustache though πŸ˜€

    I love Hackage!

I’ve seen exploits, hacks, racism and even porn right on the forums! Trion Sucks. This game was in need of a better publisher and they have been nothing but sheer FAIL.

Their security sucks. It’s EASY to create a new account and spam. This is what other players do. Trion did absolutely nothing allowing the servers to back up the end-up when the game was first released. Their ‘patches’ to fix the botting DO NOT WORK and instead have been proven to BAN players instead. People whine constantly on the forums for illegitimate stuff and the lazy ones pretend there’s no land when they don’t even look for it.

People started botting after live-release when the servers were in queue for literally weeks. Hardly any reinforcement, scripted GM-Help, Trion Worlds is a mess. They shouldn’t be in the business of gaming with customer-service THIS bad. ArcheAge got screwed up because of them. If they would have kepts under control and ignore the peasant-whining about I DON’T HAVE LAND bsers wanting to change everything about the game, then ArcheAge would have been better.

    • YaYe on October 17, 2014

A lot, lot of people on ArcheAge are just whiners and MMO flippers. These players are the ones who ruin MMO’s with their constant QQing. No one knows how to play the game, the ‘I want it now’ mentality, I’m too dumb to read, is what is killing archeage because archeage is a social/hybrid sandbox game that has so, so much to offer and people are missing the point by crying over land and rushing to ‘end-game’.
Hardly anyone talks about MML in-game. They hardly talk about any other features in the game except running the same tunes over and over and over again.

They just whine about how the pvp should be forced change into some PVE crap, pirates obliterated, and land instantly given to them. These are the types who shouldn’t be in MMOs and are from whiny carebear games like WoW that bring WoW over to other games with the same mind-set. ArcheAge has so much potential it’s just NA/EU can’t handle open-world games like this without their hand being held or things censored/babified for them. Good grief.

This in part is thanks to WoW. MMO’s have been made so cheaply now that everyone rushes to the end or stop at the beginning. Then the dummies who say ArcheAge is for kids or should be for kids. Like wtf, it’s rated M. Gtfo with that crap and go play WoW or minecraft if you want super-kiddyfied stuff for the ‘whole family’. Christ, games were for single people my age, not folks with kids.

You know how easy it is to make an Account on ArcheAge? Just proxy. That’s it. That’s how pathetic Trion’s attitude towards botting/exploiting is. The forums have bot-advertising that sits there upon hours and hours. ArcheAge is better off running by itself for all it’s care. The ‘support’ is non-existent except for technical issues.

Trion World’s fail because they have NEVER address the botting issues/exploits. Point peroid. If so we should have already seen the results by now. There is hardly any moderation on the forums. People get banned for stupid little stuff or banned because of a trion script gone wrong. Whiners are groaning how the game should be PVE and babiefied for them.

Seriously the majority whining about stuff are guys who just don’t have the balls to play UO style anymore. Grown guys, younger guys. Grow up. This isn’t Cooking Mama. This only has happened because the game industry lied and said “Gaming is for Everyone” No, gaming is not for everyone because not everyone obliviously, can’t handle gaming without it being dumbed down for them.

One part I do give Trions prop for is ignoring half of the whine-fest cept the folks that send them emails over and over again how they need to change things. Thanks for low-level chat restriction that is pointless and does nothing against botting. And thanks for killing Trial chat by restricting it only to jury and dude on trial. Changes like that Trion did. Useless changes.

You guys suck. I can’t believe I have to play with such helpless babified guys and a few yoinky chicks on MMO’s.

      Carebear failures.

man, maybe some people dont want pvp,or maybe some people want free stuff, and some want to have everything so you cant argue like go and play WOW or Minecraft, its a stupid thing to say, just because u love to read everything and just because u love to be patient and do pvp like godlike its not like all have the same feelings,so if u say like screw this kids, its makes u the kid, from my opinion is just like: Let people say what they want,do what they want, and act like they want.People are not the same at all,and even if u say 1000 times what you did it would not change something,it will look like a stupid cry face guy in the eyes of other people and even if u dont give a thing about them, you will never be much better than them doing this.I`ve played many games and i can say some are good, some are incomplete, and some are failures,so if u have to blame something, blame the game not the people that play it,because what you told there is like the game was made only for one kind of people, and the game it was suppose to be for everyone not only for one type of them.I dont say really you are wrong, but its worthless to say its because of people.I`l give u an example of what would be if:
If Trion Worlds would had better security will never happen what it did.
If Trion Worlds did not be so careless about they`r problems this will never happen.
If Trion Worlds would never implement a system like that (Patronate) will never happen what it did.
And this is some of the things that would change the game in better, and comunity will act better.
So the game makes people frustrated and act like kids, because not everyone can stay 10 hours to farm or do things to get better and most of people are casual people,so they bot and do other things, simple as that.

    1. wildstar is a garbage game. only a moron would pay every month to play a game.

    2. developers and publishers complain all the time about torrents and stuff but they are all quiet when it comes to hacks. why dont they do something about that. or maybe they are selling those hacks them self for some extra profit.

    3. Early Access is a scam. They should pay us to play their unfinished products and not the other way around.

  8. idontlikemyname on October 17, 2014

Before saying wildstar gonna be free to play or wildstar should be free to play at the start read some forums , dev interviews, wildstar forums cause the devs already told us wildstar wont be free so for those who say “wildstar should be free to play” or “wildstar sucks” first play the game hit max level start dungeons/raids/rep/pvp/path leveling/world story then give your opinion about the game also the game is just practically F2P you just need to spend $60 for the deluxe and just buy CREED with in-game cash creed cost around 10plats you make that gold in 1 week if you are lazy or casual via mining/thickle/relic circles, i bought at launch and i already paid 13 MONTHS OF GAME PLAY WITH ONLY IN GAME GOLD.

    • Mystika on October 17, 2014

They always say that initially, as they don’t want to guarantee anything. Later on though..

      • idontlikemyname on October 17, 2014

actually they said they prefer to shutdown the game before even go free to play

Loved the show guys! Its always good to hear some mmo news delivered in a professional, fun and relaxed format!

In terms of Wildstar it had so much promise in the first few months, but there were just too many things that made it difficult for players to access content. Saying things are hardcore is one thing, but take the attunement for example, I dont think its hardcore just boring! Also obtaining end game gear, both PvE and PvP, was very tedious and didn’t really seem to make much sense. I think Wildstar will go F2P in the next 6 months but I think they need to change some of its core functionality to address some of these issues.

  10. NobleNerd on October 16, 2014

Please stop referring to this game as a “Sandbox”. This game has little in the was of Sandbox elements. You are put into a “Virtual Projects” for your farming and housing… you select preset housing and have little control over how you set up your farm and housing. You have limited control over the economy and the justice system is a joke. This game is NOT a Sandbox. More acceptable tag would be “Theme Park Hybrid”.

GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK MAGICMAN!

    • Kurisama on October 16, 2014

      Sir, Its called life.

      • YaYe on October 17, 2014

Hybrid Themepark for sure. Sandbox? Not even close. The only parts sandbox about the game is the ability to plant pre-made presets on the ground.

I think Wildstar should have went Free 2 Play at the start, I believe they would have done better there as opposed to their subscription model where they tried imitating Eve Online’s PLEX system. As to if they should go Free 2 Play in three months, I am inclined to say yes as it is in my opinion their only saving grace right now.

Or of course they can be a bunch of assholes and do the let’s make it Free 2 Play and then shut it down within a few months to a year… like I don’t know… CITY OF HEROES!?

  13. Bratwurst on October 16, 2014

Welcome back you two! I would wish that I can join you guys in a Podcast, that would be an experience for me.

    • Bratwurst on October 16, 2014

Here is my weekly Bomb, A Da-Bomb to Magicka Wizard Wars, absolutely fun game with lots of mayhem and stupidity at levels I have never seen in a very long time.

I will probably get burns for this but I am giving a Da-Bomb as well to the third person shooter Dizzel, the game had a lot of mixed reviews with at least 60% positive from Steam. It is a fun game, simple mechanics and simple shooter elements, fun enough for me to waste time and unwind.

Would love to someday join you guys in a Podcast, it is a longtime dream for me to be in one. I have been listening/watching your Podcasts for a long time and have been a long time fun, I barely comment at times as while I am listening to a Podcast I will be playing a match in Smite or Mechwarrior Online or Magicka.
