DCUO New Legends

Some free-to-play games are more polarizing than others, with some sides taking the stance of “great, totally non-exploitative implementation” and others thinking “total pay-to-win trash.” We’d like to see on what side of the spectrum the gaming public — and by that, we mean you guys — think of certain F2P games, and so we’ve invented something new called Love It Or Hate It?

Every week, we’ll present a new F2P game and give you the option of passing judgment on it. Then we’ll look back at it the next week and see what people thought. There are no prizes, except for the satisfaction of knowing you clicked on a button and made something happen. Really, what else do you need?

Last week, we put forth Aion, which seemed to fall on the low end of user satisfaction, with just a 37% Love It score versus 14% Hate It. Nearly half of you (49%) voted “Meh,” which probably seems closest to my views on the matter.

This week, we’ll look at DC Universe Online, which Daybreak keeps saying is popular, especially on consoles, but which hardly ever seems to garner the huge headlines or be something people talk about as being something they play a lot. Perhaps more than anything we’ve done so far, I’ll be interested to see how the comments stack up, in addition to the voting.

Great game but the people in charge are ruinging it by not fixing anything and coming out with the same crap just new colors and now hearing jen is in charge i honestly feel sorry for the game and more so the gamers that unfortunatley still play the game

Also the constant changing to the mechanics of the powers is greatly annoying

hate it couse is fake free to play , you need to buy whit real money to get op caracter and new content. should say it at first, free to creat caracter or free to be loser side and btw the open world pvp have great place but then again no point to do pvp at open world couse not gain anything

    I miss City of Heroes/Villains.
No other superhero “mmo” has come close since.

The game is really great, the combat system is really cool, and even just exploring just for the sake of exploration could be fun in this game. But the F2P model sucks! The F2P player are really tied up, and when you reach a certain level, you gonna be stuck there…

They should learn something from Warframe or Path of Exile’s F2P model.

the game is amazing i’ll admit but as a free player it blows, you restricted alot. its fun playing super hero/villain, exploring the world, and enjoying the overall story (for me at least) and i believe its possible to advance without paying but to fully enjoy the bucks have to roll out. my opinion anyway

If you subscribe or buy that super mega DLC pack on Steam, I’m sure you’ll have a ball.
If you’re just a regular F2P user, you will hit a wall and will have to pay and I hate that.

Dcuo is a fun game with active membership but as f2p it lacking on a huge scale I have played the game sense it went f2p and have 6 max characters and 5 of the dlc’s before they chopped them up and started to sell them in parts………………….. This is a game I am happy I walked away from.

As a player with multiple max lvl characters, and a couple of the paid DLC, I would say that it is great…if you subscribe. The limits on powers, and money that you can use as free to play kills it for free players

Ditto. I have Light, Rage, Munitions and Electric powers max level but since I no longer sub it’s like “**** you bro pay me…” LOL

      • Eldemarco on June 10, 2015

Well, the good thing is that as long as you don’t delete the character, you could sub for one month, make 6 characters with dlc powers, and still play them after your sub runs out. I don’t have the rage expansion, but i can still play the one i had when i subbed

HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY?
