Some free-to-play games are more polarizing than others, with some sides taking the stance of “great, totally non-exploitative implementation” and others thinking “total pay-to-win trash.” We’d like to see on what side of the spectrum the gaming public — and by that, we mean you guys — think of certain F2P games, and so we’ve invented something new called Love It Or Hate It?

Every week, we’ll present a new F2P game and give you the option of passing judgment on it. Then we’ll look back at it the next week and see what people thought. There are no prizes, except for the satisfaction of knowing you clicked on a button and made something happen. Really, what else do you need?

Last week, Rift was put up for debate, and it did… OK for a Trion game these days. With 33.2% liking and 14.5% hating, that puts it well ahead of ArcheAge (which was 14% liked) but strangely a little behind Defiance (36.9%). Go figure.

This week, we’ll go old-school… really old school. EverQuest is the game of choice this week, and no, there isn’t an option for “I love/loved it, but I hate Daybreak.” What do you think this is, a scientific poll?

Tell us what you think of EverQuest, and leave a comment below to expound upon your views!

  1. I guarantee you anyone that hates on EQ is younger then 25 and most probably never even played the game in the first place except the f2p version of it

  2. It may be old, but it has a charm and nostalgia to it. I still play from time to time, there’s something about the diversity of the race and classes and little things like needing food and water and having to actually type out a reply to the NPC that still make this one classic and one of a kind.

  3. Why bother polling this? This game is so old , I can guarantee you that more people won’t care or hate on it just for the fact that it’s so old and not fully free.

I used to like EQ , but I stopped playing it back in 2003 because I didn’t care for the direction that it was headed. However, now I simply feel indifferent towards it. It’s impressive to see it’s still alive all these years though.
