  3. HappyAnon on August 7, 2012

While I am happy for this thing I wonder how will you access games which requires kssn and such because not all asian mmos are so easily accessible?

  4. Zoolee on August 6, 2012

How can I start the game? I only get blank square instead of characters in the main menu, and I don’t know what to do… it throws some kind of error, but I can’t understand…

    • Zoolee on August 6, 2012

Ok… so I’ve checked it out, and the problem is with the updater, it cant download the patch to the game. However, I’ve tried to reinstall it, and still no success. Any suggestions?

when are you going to do the dragon ball online game for this show so i can be ready

  6. Dualbird12 on August 6, 2012

I forgot to ask something earlier.
I followed some guides to make an account and guessed my way through the download and install process.
I don’t speak a work of japanese and I do have the time to learn but I’m too lazy.
Now I know there is an english patch but I was told on pso-world.com that JP sega posted on their website that if they catch you using an english patch they’ll ban you.
They didn’t really specify so I don’t know if it’s just your account that gets banned or if it’s an IP block.
Does anyone know if this is true or was I told wrong?? (Please say I was told wrong).

    • Dualbird12 on August 6, 2012

Oh…Should be “I don’t speak a word” not work. I should really read what I post before I submit it.

At first I couldn’t remember who Spunkify was but after hearing his voice I definitely do. He’s really the only reason I went to mmohut. Good thing he’s on mmobomb now. As for pso2 I can’t wait to try this. Been a huge pso fan since I was 8 or 9 (I’m 20 now).

Just In Case Anyone Else Is Wondering About Where To Find The Patch. The Guys Who Made The Patch Rule, And Humbly Have My Thanks. Though The Game Was Fine In Japanese, Just Took A Little Bit Of Time To Alt Tab Back And Forth (in Windowed Full Screen) To Websites That Have Information, And Majority of Translations Down.

Enjoy All, And Thank You So Much For Doing This Spunkify, I Love PSO2, Well, All PSO Games.

For many reasons I really like the idea of foreign Fridays! Looking forward to hopefully a very long educational series for years to come!
Asia without a doubt will be the best region to feature online games from, but sometimes there is some nice EU stuff that could be worthy of an episode! Awesome new show!

This game looked really nice until he said its dungeonbased ….-_____-

    • DC on August 4, 2012

It’s dungeon based but it’s fun! Try it, you wont regret.

    • Nathan on August 6, 2012

      Personally I prefer dungeon based.

  21. ShilvaStorm on August 4, 2012

Hi Spunkify, Thank you for the awesome video of pso2 ^^

Now I wonder where you get the english patch because your’s seems like the best around.
Could you send me a pm with the info because I can’t find anything on the forums either.

    Thanks ;D

  22. SNAK4ATER on August 4, 2012

Thanks for the first episode of Foreign Fridays. It was a great and very informative first episode.

The game looks totally awesome, i was a little concerned when you mentioned a little of the grind on the earlier levels, but like you also said, the game just looks like a blast to play, so a little grind wouldn’t matter to me, i cannot wait to play it.

    Thanks again for the vid.

  23. Dragoonis Mystic on August 4, 2012

Not mush for shooting games but ,with the wasy that forgien friday is may done .I just may give it a whirl nice going Spunkify can’t wait until next Friday now .;-)

    • DC on August 4, 2012

This is not a shooter game. It’s a action MMORPG. You can choose between shooter look or normal look, when you use the Ranger class.

  24. infernodemon2005 on August 4, 2012

can’t wait for this game to come stateside next year. i’ll be following it closely because it looks amazing.

  25. rockandroll89 on August 4, 2012

That was a great first show Spunkify, I can’t wait for the next one. I was just wondering do you take requests, or maybe recommendations on what Foreign games you could try next or sometime in the future. If that’s a yes than here it is: their has been a game from Foreign that I had not seen anyone talk about and I think it should be by time that someone did. Their is one game that comes to mind when it comes to a game that I haven’t head much of besides of what I read online and not seeing gameplay at all yet. Hmmm O anyways, the game is called: Blade & Soul, link= bns.plaync.com ; the game company that makes this game is Based in Korean and yea I would like to see Spunkify give this a try and see what he thinks about it. Mmobomber’s what F2P Foreign game do you think Spunkify should give a try.

    • Mystika on August 4, 2012

A lot of Korean games IP block and require a KSSN unfortunately, also Blade & Soul is P2P so I don’t think Spunk will do it, unless they change to F2P later on.

  26. Mystika on August 4, 2012

Love the character customisation, probably the best one I’ve seen yet, although from this Foreign Friday, it seems like majority of the stuff has a “Asian or Anime” feel, which I’m sure won’t appeal to everyone (I’m fine with it tho).

I’m curious though as to why the character customisation is in English instead of Japanese, unless you applied some sort of English patch for that particular section.

    • Mystika on August 4, 2012

Okay, that initial post was made just after watching the character customisation bit only. Now after watching the entire episode…

I notice a lot of similarities between PSO2 and GW2, such as:
Random events – similar to GW2’s dynamic events, but I’d would hazard a guess from just this video, that these events are a lot more random (which is good).
Weapon switching, each weapon having it’s own abilities – again, pretty similar to the system implemented in GW2, however the fact that the abilities grow stronger as you continue using your weapon in PSO2 sets it apart from GW2.
Reviving characters/utility skills – I guess reviving players as a utility skill is somewhat more restrictive (instead of having it as an ability right from the get go). I’m assuming there’s no downed state either, and also that if utility skill selection is quite vast, that there’ll be a lot more strategy in choosing your skills.

At the moment, I think I’ll probably stave off playing until after November (probably they’ll be a more complete English patch), but I’m definitely looking forward to playing this.

      • Caile on August 4, 2012

Okay, so you never played it, but it’s not even close to GW2 – it takes some old stuff from other Phantasy Star games.

If you really want to play this: wait for the NA/EU Release in 2013

        • Mystika on August 4, 2012

It’s true, I never played any prior Phantasy Star games, so I don’t know what the original games had that carried into the sequel. My comparisons were just based on the closest similarities to games I’ve already played.

My reasons for wanting to play it close to the end of the year are due to exams mainly. English patches are just a bonus to me, as I intended to play this anyway regardless.

          • Knightblade on August 8, 2012

Please do the gaming community a favor and STOP comparing games to each other especially if you’ve never played them. GW2 and PSO2 are like apples and oranges.
At least play the first one and know this isn’t taking anything at all from Guild Wars 2 as almost every mechanic was present in the original PSO almost 10 years ago.

Where did you get your patch? If its not in English it will not be worth it.

        • Fightmaster on August 5, 2012

The english translation you see there is only for the character creator. Sorry.

          • DC on August 5, 2012

There is a english patch for everything on the game. Search it.

          • Fightmaster on August 7, 2012

The english patch is not supported by SEGA and is considered a “Hack” i wouldnt do it.
