ArenaNet Reveals Guild Wars-Based Card Game, Mistbound
The free-to-play CCG will be developed by NC and published by Bilibili.

It’s a big time for Guild Wars-related announcements lately, it seems. Not too long ago, Guild Wars 3 was revealed. And now, we find out there’s a Guild Wars CCG in the works. The upcoming game, titled Mistbound, isn’t being developed by ArenaNet. Instead, the company has licensed it to NC for development with bilibili publishing.
If you don’t play a lot of Chinese-made games, you might be unfamiliar with the latter, whereas any of you who play games from HoYoverse or Kuro have likely at least seen it mentioned, if not watched videos shared from there. Bilibili is primarily a video-sharing site in China. While players share their own creations there, it’s also used by game developers and will often feature trailers, game teasers, and similar media that is exclusive to the site.
This doesn’t mean that the game will be restricted to China. Bilibili will be publishing it globally. That said, Bilibili will be taking advantage of its status as “the Chinese YouTube” and its large user base to obtain player feedback during development.
The game is built around “multi-directional card movement” mechanics and will have players take on the role of a commander overseeing a battlefield. Gameplay takes place on a 5x3 tactical grid, where players will place cards and move them around as needed during turns. The game’s “Dynamic Movement Gameplay” feature allows cards to move in several directions during each turn. More details on the game can be found on the official site.
