Blizzcon 2026: After Six Years Without A New Character Heroes Of The Storm Brings World Of Warcraft’s Xal’atath To The Nexus
That’s one way to kick off the convention.

Before catching up on today’s BlizzCon stream, I was talking to a friend about the status of Heroes of the Storm and the fact that it was still alive but in a bit of a weird, just kind of there, spot. So, it was a bit of a surprise that the first announcement at Blizzcon earlier today was that the free-to-play MOBA was getting its first new Hero in a very long time – and that she’s the lead antagonist of World of Warcraft Midnight.
Xal,atath is coming to the game this month, on September 28. Although, those who spend time on the PTR will be able to try her out this Monday, September 14. Of course, Blizzcon attendees are getting an early peek, provided they choose to stand in line for a bit – which… is pretty much what being at a convention is like.
It’s a pretty nice surprise for fans of the game, and seemed like a solid way to kick off the convention.
