League of Legends

A couple of weeks ago, Riot Games confirmed that the rumors of a Classic Mode in League of Legends were real, teasing the possibilities – which seemed to be pulling from different eras of the free-to-play MOBA’s existence – and promising more details during the Mid-Season Invitational. As promised, we now have more details.

The mode will arrive on July 29 with the drop of Patch 26.15. The new League Classic gameplay is described as being “anchored in 2013’s Season 3”, but also being “a collection of greatest hits across early League”. So, you can expect a little bit of something from your favorite early seasons. The mode features old-school Runes and Masteries, Summoner Spells, and a roster of 60 classic champions with pre-rework kits. (At least some of them will have the pre-rework kits.)

It also includes a recreation of the Summoner’s Rift map. Just because they’re bringing back the old map doesn’t mean it has to look old. So it will feature lighting improvments, as well as textures and shadows.
