Riot Games Announces It Will Cease Development Of 2XKO This Year
The game just isn’t sustainable.

Riot Games dropped a bit of bad news about 2XKO today. In December, they will cease development of the free-to-play fighting game. The announcement on the Riot Games site stated that while “there’s an incredible community that plays every day, [they] haven’t seen enough players stick with the game to get a path toward sustainability”.
They expand on this saying that they evaluated several factors about the game to come to this conclusion. They also state that if they’d seen “any viable future” they would have continued development, but that development of the game costs “substantially more to operate than it brings in”, noting that engagement has pretty much remained the same.
The good news for those who are playing the game is that it won’t be going away completely. Instead, active development will end in December while the servers will remain open. Prior to December, the devs will continue to introduce new content and improvements. Players can also expect two new champions. Development will end with a final bug fix patch before servers effectively go into maintenance mode.
In addition, the post states that all champions will be unlocked and the money players have spent before today will be refunded. More details on how this will work are in the post on Riot’s site.
