  1. For the question of the week: It’s complicated. I can see both sides to this. I play all three pay models, and as long as they are well done, I generally don’t have a problem with any of them. They all have pros and cons. With my recent move, my budget has become a bit tighter, so I cut out sub games, the price of a better neighborhood. With free to play I have to option to pay sometimes if I want something or have extra money without the obligation of a monthly fee. The same can be said for buy to play. Overall, I think it would bring in more players and be a generally positive change. However, I know the problems other free to play games face with free to play ‘tourists’ that hop on just to troll or spam or other sorts of annoying activities. That being said RIFT has one of the better communities in my opinion despite this. Would it get me to jump back in? Eh, maybe? There was always something about that game that never hooked me in spite of the many features about it that I liked. Perhaps it was the travesty they called ‘summoner’ that was in no way shape or form a Final Fantasy summoner, which is one of my favorite Final Fantasy classes, or maybe I just wanted FFXI – 2 which is obviously not what it is. I think it largely depends on how it’s implemented (if it happens).

P.S. – About that whole Destiny 2 thing… W…T…F. We’re going to make the game more casual by making it easier, but you have to be in a guild to group because it’s hardcore! What? Guild group does not always equal a more competent or fun group. Ugh. Glad I didn’t waste my time with that.
