GW2 Shadow Mad King

ArenaNet has opened the spooky gates of "The Shadow of the Mad King" event in Guild Wars 2 today! Players can gain new Halloween-themed rewards for journeying into the Mad Realm and Lion's Arch during the three-week event.

Players can check their in-game mail for a letter from Magister Tassi that contains an "Invitation to the Mad Realm," helping fans with traveling between Tyria and the Mad King's Labyrinth. Moreover, Lion's Arch will be Tyria's Halloweeen celebration headquarters where players can get to from the Asura gate portals in cities. Those who purchased a GW2 expansion or are at least level 35 can use them, but others without these requirements can travel to the Mad Realm from villages like Shaemoor and Smokestead to gain entry.

Every two hours in Lion's Arch, the Mad King Thorn will gather players within shouting distance to play a game. Fans must perform emotes as he commands (a la Simon Says) and can receive keys to unlock the Mad King's Chest. The area also features seasonal vendors and doors to Shadow of the Mad King activities like Mad King's Labyrinth, where players battle hordes of creatures and race with mounts for Trick-or-Treat Bags.

Those event bags are full of new randomized rewards like a Nightmare Splitter Axe, Harvester's Grin Staff, and more. Furthermore, the annual Halloween Rituals meta-achievement now grants players with the Clawing Shadow Gloves. Progressing through the achievement unlocks a new spooky armor set by completing many Halloween activities and showing your allegiance to the Lunatic Court.

You can read more information on the event from the GW2 website and forums.
