MW2 Campaign DLC

After Activision announced Call of Duty would be skipping publishing a new mainline game in 2023, many fans and critics were curious how the year might unfold as the Modern Warfare 2 reboot steps into the limelight. From recent leaks, it seems the company will launch an extended campaign DLC with a premium "greatest hits map pack" claimed to be a collection of fan-favorite multiplayer maps coming in late 2023.

On October 9, Twitter user TheGhostOfHope, a Modern Warfare 2 leaker, stated the campaign DLC will come "late 2023 bundled with [a] map pack." The insider referenced the pack in another Twitter post on October 5 that spilled details the maps would be from the original MW2 and "also include other classic maps from Infinity Ward, Treyarch & Sledgehammer's [catalog]." The leaked content matches comments from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier that Activision would bring "new stuff for MW2...an expansion or something like that."

A statement from Twitter user CoDofduty regarding the leaked content stresses that they "hope the campaign doesn't end on a cliffhanger for this." It's fair to believe the worst, but it's quite a gamble for Activision to make knowing the high regard players have for MW2's entire campaign experience. Another user, James Carne, speculated the DLC would cover how Soap got his iconic scar, mentioning how players "never [was] able to play" the mission in the past.

The best move would be to expand on the MW2 storyline and characters, but we'll have to see what or if that's the case in the future.
