The Skyforge team has pushed out a bunch of new info about its high-end content, Pantheon Wars, the game’s equivalent of guild vs. guild content that’s sure to get people’s competitive blood flowing. And also their enemies’ blood. From, you know, the multiple stab wounds they inflict.

Pantheons (guilds) will fight for control of Celestial Temples in a mix of PvE and PvP content, with 50 players participating in each type. The 50 PvE players will split into five groups of 10 to take on raids as either attackers or defenders of a temple, while the 50 PvP players will be split into three teams, to participate in 15v15 capture and hold, 10v10 capture the flag, or 25v25 king of the hill matches. Rewards are extensive and unique, ranging from vehicles, costumes, and bonuses to the Ascension Atlas, and they’ll be changed with every new season.

Here’s the catch: As you can tell by the numbers in the last paragraph, only large pantheons will be able to participate in Pantheon Wars; a pantheon will need at least 100 players who have unlocked their god forms. I’m not totally sure if you need all 100 players at once, though one of the devs says “All events take place in parallel” — and you thought assembling for 40-person raids was a nightmare! Even if that’s not the case, it’ll still require a remarkable bit of coordination and planning, the kind of which can be quickly undone by a few no-shows or unprepared players, which you’re bound to get in any group of 100.

Pantheon Wars sound really cool, but they’re also probably only going to be contested by a few huge guilds with ultra-dedicated players. That’s a perfectly legitimate approach to take — best loot to the best players and all that — but as another game found out, catering too heavily to that demographic is a dangerous path to take. While Pantheon Wars do offer unique rewards, we’ll learn more about other high-end content, such as raids and invasions, at a later date. Here’s hoping that they provide similarly useful loot.

UPDATE: I got a little bit of clarification from the Skyforge Twitter:

I’m still not quite sure I totally grasp what’s needed, but hey, I’m just a lowly peon and not a god!

This game is so poorly optimized in the starting tutorial area, I don’t think many guilds will be able to muster 20+ people with rigs capable of handling the load, let alone the full brunt of 50 v 50 combat lol.

It will be a disaster. Wish this game was in more capable hands.

Maybe don’t play on a potato?

The game runs perfectly fine and even my hardware is several years old by now.

Sorry bud, I actually tested the game and spent months on the forums, anyone who did would know you are straight up lying.

Whats your configuration? is it custom? if so, did you overclock? if so, do you have a balance voltage around your board? I’m not sure what you’re going through, but I also am a tester and the game isn’t that heavy at all. I ran it on my wife’s old rig and my rig and they both max out.

Wife is a phenom 945 with a Nvidia 460 (2010) on a biostar 880GU with two sniper 1866 at 8GB. hardly something for today’s gaming but it handles this game certainly well.

I’ve recently updated my bios on my rig and I was experience lag in hearthstone (which I found retarded) simple enough, I forgot to up the voltage on the south-bridge. anyways, whats your config anyway?

Don’t slap a truck engine into a Honda civic, if you have a bottleneck, then that’s the problem.

I have a MSIGT60 16 gigs of ram with an oc’ed GTX770m, turbo’ed i74700 cpu to 3.6. The game lagged from start to finish. Hovering around 30 -40 on the lowest settings but dipping constantly below that making the experience horrible. When I tested in CBT2 or 3 i think it was, this problem was widespread and every other post on the forums was about performance, the others were about the pay 2 win fears of the game.

Tera is one of the most demanding, poorly optimized MMO’s out right now but even that I can run over 60 while this thing just sputters like a an old junker.

Wow, thats crazy, even a 760 on my desktop and it fine. I’ll look more into if you don’t mind. and maybe I can give some advise on their forum if I find something that may correct it. I work for 9 police departments and a non-profit organization for just about everything including cyber crime.

I did read somewhere of the forums of nvidia that there was something wrong on Nvidia’s driver for the mobile platform and their GPU performs poor for no reason.

Same name as here on the skyforge forums if I find anything. .
