Bungie Exec Jumps Ship To Lead Sony's Live Service Games Division
Is this the first of many leaving Bungie?
Jaremy Rich, now former Bungie product management lead, has made the move over to Sony where he will head up the live service division as the new live service product manager.
Rich posted the news on his LinkedIn profile.
"After 7.5 amazing years at Bungie, I'm embarking on a new adventure," Jaremy wrote. "I'm joining Sony Interactive Entertainment as the Head of Product Management for Live Service Games. Luckily, with this change, I still get to work with many of the talented folks at Bungie still."
Of course, Sony purchased Bungie a couple of years back, meaning Rich will still be working with Bungie.
Bungie hasn't exactly been known for making the best decisions when it comes to its live service of Destiny 2 lately, so it'll be interesting to see if those mistakes continue in Sony's live service division or if Rich will carry the lessons learned and improve upon them in his new position.
It will also be very interesting to see if other Bungie execs start heading off to greener pastures, as it has been said that Bungie has no backup plan if the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion fails. The rumor is that Bungie execs will just cut and run if things do not go well with that launch. For now, this seems like an isolated incident, but we'll wait and see what happens as the expansion launches.
