You guys were right. John Cena is now canon in Overwatch, well maybe, who really know anymore since story stuff can now go either way in the hero shooter.

Blizzard announced that players must respond to the enigmatic call of John Cena and thwart the invading forces of Null Sector in Overwatch 2. Players are tasked with defending cities like Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg through challenging Invasion Story Missions.

There’s also the Overwatch 2 Ultimate Invasion Bundle, available until August 10, which offers access to Invasion Story Missions, the Invasion Premium Battle Pass with cosmetics, a Mythic skin for Ana, Battle Pass Tier Skips, Overwatch Coins, and Legendary Null Sector-themed skins for Cassidy and Kiriko.

Besides John Cena’s inclusion in the Overwatch universe, the game’s Director Aaron Keller provided a preview of hero balance changes that are coming with Overwatch 2: Invasion. Nearly half of the existing heroes will undergo balance adjustments in the upcoming season. A change to armor damage reduction is being introduced, making it additive and capping at 50%. Cassidy's Magnetic Grenade will be refined, Torbjorn's primary fire damage and weapon swap speed will be increased, Soldier:76's damage output will be reduced, and Orisa will be adjusted overall.

Also, Lifeweaver, receives tweaks to enhance his Ult's impact and survivability, while Kiriko's Protection Suzu gets modified for better situational use. Mercy's damage boost is reduced from 30% to 25%. And Sombra as well as other heroes will also undergo changes in subsequent seasons.

Note: Activision Blizzard has been sued by California’s Civil Rights Department, alleging violations of California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act and Equal Pay Act. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about the alleged violations within his company. These allegations have all been denied by Activision Blizzard and the company points to additional diversity and inclusion training as past examples of taking the accusations seriously at the time they were made.
