Dungeon Fighter Online RMT Drama

Over the weekend, the live director of Dungeon Fighter Online in South Korea revealed that in the process of monitoring activities related to an “incident of gross misconduct” in Dungeon & Fighter in 2020, the developer discovered that similar activities were taking place in DFO. The discovery was made earlier than the post, as the company was advised to hold off making it public for legal reasons. Now that things have progressed, they’re informing the MMO's players.

The general breakdown of the situation is that a member of staff used administrative rights to create items worth a lot of gold and sell them through NPC shops. By the time it was discovered, he’d generated almost 7 trillion Gold using this method. This gold was then sold for $2.4 million USD. There's a great wrap-up from Kira and you can watch this below.

Since the fraud was discovered, the person responsible has admitted to it and a first trial has already been held. This is what the DFO team was waiting on before going public. In addition, the game’s former live director has apparently stepped down from his position as a result of these events. As the letter puts it, they have “taken responsibility for this issue," which led to [the current live director’s] succession of managing the DFO service.

As an apology to players for how this issue may have affected the quality of their time in the game, the DFO team has come up with an apology gift containing several boxes. Details on how to claim can be found in the live director’s letter.
