Final Fantasy XIV’s Housing Market May Be Opening Back Up a Bit
The automatic demolition process is returning.
If you haven’t logged into your estate in Final Fantasy XIV in a while, you may want to. The automatic demolition process is coming back after a year of being suspended. (Interestingly, we thought Square Enix had brought this back months ago, but… we guess not?) According to a post that went up this morning, automatic demolition will be resumed with the patch of 6.3. That gives players a bit of time to log in, if they haven’t, and assure they get to keep their homes.
Here’s the way it will work: There will effectively be two different timers based on when players last entered their estates. The first will reset following the launch of Patch 6.3 and will be for players who have logged in at least once during the suspension period. (That means that if you logged into your house at any time during the last year, the timer will start after the update.)
Those who haven’t entered their home at all over the last year (Really… What have you been doing?) will have to deal with a timer that resumes from where it left off on December 5, 2001. That means if you had 20 days left, there will be 20 left following the patch. If you had one… well, you better log in on patch day.
If your house is up for demolition, you will receive an email. Also, players can check the status of their estate in the Timers window in the game.
In other housing news, the 2022 furnishing design contest is kicking off. Starting today, players with a live FFXIV account may submit their designs for judging and win prizes. The entry period will last until January 19, so if you’re not ready now, it’s okay. Players wanting to enter can design interior house furnishing. Exteriors are off-limits. Winners will get their design implemented in-game at some point and be awarded the Great Paraserpent parasol fashion accessory.
