PlayStation Studios Head Herman Hulst has given some good news to multiplayer fans when he spoke to Sony’s new growing focus on live service games, at least 10 of them by 2026. Now, Sony being famous for its single-player narrative-driven experiences too means that they certainly aren't abandoning their brand, rather just trying to open up to the growing and expanding multiplayer market.

In May, Sony mentioned that it’s planning to have (now) 12 live service titles in the market by its fiscal year ending in March 2026. The company also expects half of its annual releases to be on PC and mobile by 2025.

“We have a history and a reputation for building these incredible narrative-driven single-player games, such as The Last of Us and Horizon and the upcoming God of War Ragnarok,” Hulst said.

Hulst also believes that Sony’s future console games will most likely have to wait “at least a year” before coming to PC, aside from its live service titles. “Live service games are a little bit different in nature because you want to have a strong community, strong engagement right away, right when you go live, so we might in the case of our live service offerings go day and date with PC and the PlayStation platform.”

It’s great news that Sony is doing its best to keep up with multiplayer titles, especially considering the looming fear of losing Call of Duty to Microsoft if the Activision deal goes through.
