How do you go from “you can get animation-locked” (i.e. you shouldn’t mash buttons mindlessly) and “you can get stunlocked if you aren’t careful” to “this is not a true action game”? o_O Are Dark Souls and Street Fighter also not true action games then? Combat may not be fluid because of lag and choppy animations, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an action game.

      Hello,
I didn’t say it wasn’t an action game, I said it wasn’t truly action combat in the way people think of it along the lines of TERA i.e. smooth. And sorry, to me animation locking (without a way to cancel in reaction) isn’t a trait of action combat.

      Thanks!

I get what you’re saying. I just think that “not a true action combat game” isn’t precisely the term you’re looking for. Or maybe it’s your definition of “action game” that’s a bit off (namely it’s a bit too narrow). What’ you have in mind sounds more like beat ’em up / hack and slash subgenre than something as broad as “action combat game”.

Didn’t mean to grumble and/or lecture, it’s just that your reasons for saying it isn’t a true action combat game sounded weird to me.
