F2P Cast: E3 F2P Taken Over by Consoles! (EP 72)

On this week's episode the team returns from E3 tired and somewhat sick. We discuss what info we gleamed from E3 starting with the massive influx of F2P games for consoles. What exactly does the arrival of next-gen platforms mean for Free-to-Play? This question is answered in multiple parts for both Microsoft and Sony consoles. We also talk about the future of virtual reality in gaming. Finally we wrap up our discussion with the spirited reading of viewer responses and more on this week's episode of the Free-to-Play Cast!

If you have submissions for the show's Weekly Bombs, have questions for the panel (nothing is off limits!), or just ideas for what you want covered you can now send them to michael@mmobomb.com. You can also be a guest in the show, just send us why you want to host, and what topic or game you would like to cover.

Free-To-Play Cast is the official podcast (and videocast) of MMOBomb.com about free to play multiplayer online games. Free-To-Play Cast takes on the week's biggest news with plenty of opinion, weekly bombs, community feedback, guests, interviews, laughs thrown in for good measure and much more. Have fun and expect a new episode next week! (every Wed or Thu)

A-Bomb...no...F-Bomb... A billion F-Bombs to SEGA for leaving people in the dark about the NA PSO2 for god knows how long.... Seeing that I'm unable to get on the Japanese version for the longest while and have been waiting since then. I'm on the verge of throwing a fit... *headdesk*

If people think PC mmos have horrible communities wait until the cross platform console invasion of MMOs, the internet will never be the same.

Ok so first of all Tekken Revolution is not Tekken its a simplified version of it ( no bound, tag ) second of all tekken tag tournament 2 even tekken 6 had customization unlock through in game cash only if you peroderd you get the bonus chars first day other ppl got them like 2-3 months later but for free... Etc... Tekken Revolution is good tutorial in too tekken games, but its not what tekken is! now the game is much deeper and much harder than an average SF player can take that's why not so many ppl are playing it etc.. The game demands dedication its not like anything else out there...

Is this not rather counterproductive? Free games on a console that isn't free, nor does it have the multitude of features and flexibility that a PC has. There's a reason PCs are as expensive as they are; they do everything. Everything. And they do it all well, not just exceeding in one aspect.

I put it to you--this is exactly what you wouldn't buy a console for. It's the exact opposite reason to buy a console.

In reply to the question of the week.I would buy a console just for free to play.Right now f2p is still coming on to the console scene. But with Sony taking steps tp be friendly towards indie developers. And really supporting the f2p genre as they are.I could see more f2p game devs porting and developing f2p mmos on consoles. And I would gladly buy a console just for them.It gives budget gamers a way to get into f2p gaming.Let's be honest a mid range gaming pc wouldn't be as cheap.Though if you can afford a high end gaming pc then obviously stick with a pc.But for medium settings at a 400 dollar price consoles for sure.

A game console just for F2P games that are also available on PC? Never.

Great show guys, although it would have been better with an extra guest or two.
Got a Da-Bomb for my buddy Cerebral Hunter for going out and buying StarCraft 2 so we can swarm some people.
As for the question of the week.... I wouldn't buy a Xbone or a PS4 just for F2P games even if there are nice ones like World of Tanks or Warframe, but there are other nice B2P mmo games coming out on the next gen consoles, mainly Destiny. Sure buying a Xbone or a PS4 is cheaper than buying a new high end computer outright, but upgrading and keeping it way in front of the consoles is more rewarding for most gamers especialy in the F2P market. Until the Xbone or PS4 has more to offer than my pc ( at least game play or upgradable wise ) I think sticking with the pc is a better choice, unless you really like the console exclusive titles.

Hey guys, I'm a fan of the site, but I have to say, it may be time to move on from this show. It really just isn't something Spunk is all that good at. I've tried to stay with it but it really is getting a bit boring the way it's been done since MM left. Please don't be mad at me for saying so Spunky! :)

Please don't hate, I'm not bashing. I still love the site but think that maybe this show should be changed into something a lot more up Spunk's alley or just dropped but then replaced with something that feels more natural to the hosts.

Da-Bomb for trying though! :)
