F2P Cast: Post Apocalyptic MMO Madness! (Ep. 66)
On this week's episode we talk about the recent cancellation of the Fallout-esque MMO Grimlands while discussing Survarium, the potential alternative to those seeking post apocalyptic MMO madness. We also discuss what truly constitutes an MMO sequel and whether a game like ArcheBlade is super hardcore with a high skill ceiling or just incredibly imbalanced. All of this plus some game closures and delays along with the weekly bombs on this episode of the Free-to-Play Cast!
If you have submissions for the show's Weekly Bombs, have questions for the panel (nothing is off limits!), or just ideas for what you want covered you can now send them to michael@mmobomb.com. You can also be a guest in the show, just send us why you want to host, and what topic or game you would like to cover.
Free-To-Play Cast is the official podcast (and videocast) of MMOBomb.com about free to play multiplayer online games. PS: Great Show Guys !
PPS: Grimlands is actually in a good state when they decided to stop developing, I played till last beta they had redone the interface and fixed most of the bugs. This is the only founding project that I spent my money because, I want this game to survive :)
Nexon and Neople sowed the seeds for their own failure from the start and it pisses me off since I invested over $100 in avatars. I genuinely loved that game. Evidently, people hate when hosts don't give a damn about the games they provide and leave them to stagnate.
Question of the week: Untill DIsney get approached by developers, im gonna assume that Star Wars 1313 is cancelled / put on hold till further notice. It seemed to have alot of potential and for a Star Wars lore geek, i´d have loved to venture into the seedy underworld of Coruscant.
For QOTW: I'm really disappointed Starcraft Ghost never came out, it would've been so great.
And I'd like to give a "Da Bomb" to Portalus Games (which as far as I know is only 3 guys) for picking up Pirates of the Burning Sea. I really hope they bring some changes and maybe disable the premium features to make the game real F2P and not freemium, or at least tone it down a little. PotBS is an awesome game, which is in dire need of more players.
