I commented to my husband, who was playing with me, that it felt off for a Tales main character to be silent. He likened it to Suikoden, I'm fine with the silence in that game, to which I replied that I felt it didn't fit the Tales format especially with the skits. He then cited the dialogue choices as a reason behind it, and why he was fine with it.
Up to this point in the game, you indeed had choices, but they never seemed to impact the flow of events. For example, let's say the choices were to jump off a cliff, or not. You choose not to. Then another character pushes you off anyway. Not a real example of course, but you get the idea.
So I commented: "Yeah, you let me know when those 'choices' actually begin to matter."
Not five minutes later we reach another choice, right before the final area. I won't give it away for anyone who hasn't played, but, holy hell did that choice matter! What followed was him fighting a rough multiple boss fight solo, me watching helplessly, and a world changing scene. The whole thing made me even question the entire first Xillia, let alone this one.
So, I'm taking a break from the Tales marathon for a week or two. Two games to go, but I just can't right now.
Actually they should all be free, as this proves the game developer withdrew certain elements of their development and never really finished the game but released it so, therefore, all additional extra add-ons throughout the years should all be free. :)
