Goose Goose Duck: Complete Roles Guide

Goose Goose Duck is a multiplayer social deduction party game in which players are separated into groups with different roles, all hidden from one another. Each role has a particular objective that must be completed to win the game, which can range from killing off unsuspecting foes, framing your team members for murder, completing duties around the map, and more.

However, Goose Goose Duck has a whopping amount of character roles, with over 70 different options spread out among friendly, antagonistic, and neutral playstyles. Additionally, many of these roles will also have unique interactions or gameplay mechanics, which can make learning and understanding them all quite a daunting task. To help point players in the right direction, a complete explainer on each of the Goose Goose Duck roles and their objectives/interactions has been outlined in the guide below.

Goose Goose Duck: Every Role, Explained

Goose Goose Duck: Roles Explained

In Goose Goose Duck, there are Duck roles, Goose roles, and Neutral roles. Goose roles serve as the ‘crewmate’ type of role, and offer unique perks for working to uncover and remove the infiltrating Ducks. The Duck is the antagonist role that targets other players and disrupts them from completing their objectives through sabotages and killing. Lastly, neutral roles, as the title hints towards, are somewhere in the middle, and can usually find a means of emerging as the solo victor of a game, so long as they play their cards right.

Many roles can be toggled on and off/tweaked when creating a game lobby through the gameplay settings options. Furthermore, some roles may be restricted to appearing on certain maps only, due to mechanics relating to the role not being available on every map.

A complete summary of all roles in Goose Goose Duck, as well as a short explainer of how they play and their unique interactions, has been detailed below:

How to Win/Tips

Goose

Finish all of your tasks, try to stay alive, and vote out the Ducks!

Cannot be assassinated.

Complete all tasks in time, or vote out/kill off all Ducks/Pelican/Falcon.

Gravy

Complete tasks to increase your bounty. Survive to keep your bounty.

Bounty will be passed to your killer if you die.

Cannot be assassinated.

Non-Duck killing roles can also claim your bounty, but won't see the icon above your head.

Survive until the end, and gain your Silver Coin bounty as a bonus.

Medium

You may know the number of ghosts.

Players inside the Pelican's belly will not count as 'dead' for the Medium's ability.

Use your ghost-checking ability in the middle of rounds to check if any players have died. Keep track of approximate times of death to help at meetings.

Vigilante

You may kill any player once per game.

Can claim Gravy's bounty.

Try to survive long enough to become certain about one Duck player/other negative role, and then use your power to take them out of the game.

Sheriff

You can kill any amount of non-Goose players. Killing a Goose will also result in your own death.

Will not report Canadian.

Try to survive long enough to become certain enough about negative roles to take them out with your power. However, be careful not to be reckless, as you can also lose the game by accidentally taking out too many Goose players.

Canadian

Your killer will automatically report your body after 1 second.

Professional and Sheriff will not report your body.

Your body will not be reported if there is no body on death, if your killer dies within 1 second, or if another meeting is called.

Try to find one or more trusted Goose players in the early rounds and let them know you are a Canadian. Then, put yourself in dangerous situations in hopes that you get killed off.

Players can then vote out your killer to easily get rid of a Duck/negative role. However, this will only really work if someone knows you are Canadian.

Mimic

To the Ducks, you will appear to be one of them.

Ducks can kill ducks. Ducks can not be blind.

You can enter the dog.

Act like a Duck to build trust and work out who the other Ducks are, then use this information to vote them off.

Detective

You can investigate players to see if they have killed that round.

Investigation will show a devil icon for a player who has killed this round. Will not show the icon for a Pelican or Demolitionist.

Use your ability to determine who the Ducks/negative roles are, and then vote them off.

Lover

You gain a 'Lover' in another random player (can be two Goose, two Duck, or one Goose and one Duck). If one of you dies, the other one also dies.

If your lover gets voted out, you will die at the end of the meeting.

Be the last remaining two of three players alongside your Lover.

Locksmith

You can always open the jail door without finding a key/keycard.

-

Use the ability to open jail cleverly to clear yourself to other Goose players, and work together to vote out the Ducks.

Politician

In tied votes between you and another player, you will always win.

If a vote tie between yourself and two other players occurs, they will get sent to jail. You can not get sent to jail.

Stay alive and try to sway votes against you into a tie to initiate your passive, rather than being voted off.

Birdwatcher

You gain the ability to see through walls with limited vision.

You can see during lights out.

Use your powers to see through walls in common kill areas to catch killers out.

Mortician

You can investigate a corpse to see their role and see the roles of the bodies you inspected when a meeting is called.

Can investigate corpses being dragged by the Undertaker.

Use your power to work out potential Sheriff and Lovers kills to narrow down the remaining suspects.

Adventurer

You can not be killed by map hazards.

-

If you can get another Goose player to witness your survival of a hazard, it can 100% clear you for the game. You can then work with the others to vote out suspected Duck players.

Astral

You can send your spirit through walls to see in other areas, but you will be colorblind in this state.

-

Wait until you think the chances of catching hard evidence are likely, or you have another trusted Goose player to guard you, before using your power, as it leaves you very vulnerable.

Celebrity

All other Goose players are notified when you die, but Neutral roles and Ducks will not.

-

Always try to be near a player, as the Goose players will get notified when you die. By knowing who you were last seen with, they can narrow down killer possibilities.

Scientist

Gain the ability to scan for bodies.

The ability recharges when inactive.

You can use this power to locate undiscovered bodies on the map. You can also track approximate timeframes of kills and use this evidence to determine the suspects.

Avenger

After witnessing a murder, you will be able to kill for a limited amount of time.

Will report the Canadian.

Can claim Gravy's bounty.

Try to stick to a group of players and avoid being alone if possible, for the best chances of being able to trigger your ability. You can then use your ability to target someone you know is likely to be a Duck, or the triggering killer, though you may accidentally take out a Sheriff.

Engineer

You will be able to see the approximate location of where sabotages were called from on the map.

Can vent/hide for increased vision and hearing, but will be kicked out after 10s.

By discussing player locations in meetings or keeping track of approximate locations, you can collect evidence of who is near the locations sabotages were initiated. Use this information to vote out the most likely suspects.

Tracker

During a sandstorm, you can see the locations of players who are outside.

Players will disappear from your map during a sandstorm if they die.

You can use your power to your advantage to track kills that occur during sandstorms in real-time, and then cross-reference other evidence to determine the biggest suspect.

Lobbyist

After accumulating enough votes, unlock the ability to kill. After killing, you must accumulate enough votes to unlock the kill button again.

Can not stack kills; you must kill before being able to collect votes for the next kill button.

Can vote for yourself.

Will report Canadian.

Can claim Gravy’s bounty.

In most situations, voting yourself every round is a good idea, as it will help you unlock your next kill button as quickly as possible. Try to utilize your kills each round to keep earning kill buttons on a per-round basis, as you don’t gain anything from holding them.

Street Urchin

You can open locks, but only from the inside

-

If you end up locked in a room, you can use this power to escape. If you have another Goose witness use of your power, then that information can also be used to clear yourself in meetings.

Survivalist

If you are in the final 3 players and the Falcon/Pelican is dead, a timer starts, and you gain the power to temporarily turn invisible.

Invisibility does not prevent you from being killed.

Survive until the timer reaches zero to win. As you need to survive long enough for the timer to kick off, you will want to survive until the final round by any means necessary.

Fortune Teller

At meetings, you will have four players marked as the potential killer. One of them will be the real killer.

Will still show cards for players who killed a Goose, such as the Sheriff.

You can collect information during meetings to determine which one of the potential killers most likely caused the death, and then sway the vote in that direction. However, revealing you are the Fortune Teller can make you a target, so be careful.

Bodygaurd

You are given one random target to bodyguard, which is the same target the Hitman has. Keep them safe to earn bonus coins.

You earn bonus coins if your target survives the entire game or is killed within your range.

Dedicate yourself to following your target at all costs, and work with them to outlast everyone.

Stalker

You can track one player of your choice, but this power resets after each meeting.

You can not be right next to the tracked player, or else the effect will wear off. The same situation happens if the tracked player dies.

You can use this power to keep tabs on players that you find suspicious, collecting evidence on the Ducks. This is useful when players state they are going to do certain actions, as you can follow up to make sure you see them through, catch them avoiding sabotages, and more.

How to Win/Tips

Duck

Utilize sabotages and kill off the Goose players.

Can see Professional bodies.

Kill enough Geese so that they're outnumbered by the remaining Ducks.

Call a critical Sabotage that goes unfixed.

Hitman

You are given one random target, which is also the same target the Bodyguard has. Kill them to earn bonus coins.

Map kills do not earn bonus coins.

Try to kill your target as early in the game and as discreetly as possible. Use opportunities such as sabotages as opportunities to pull this off.

Cannibal

Once per game, you may eat a corpse.

Can eat Demolitionist victims.

Carefully choose when you eat a body and which body you choose to eat, as this enables you to hide a corpse once per game. When done at the right time, it can be incredibly strong and allow for multiple kills in a round.

Spy

If you are the only one to vote for a player during a meeting, their role will be revealed to you.

Can see who the Gravy is during meetings without spying.

You can use this power to your advantage to work out threatening roles such as Sheriff or Engineer, and then kill them off early.

Silencer

Once before each meeting, you can silence a player of your choice to prevent them from being able to participate via text chat or voice chat.

-

Silence players who you know have vital evidence or information, and then make it a priority to kill them in the following round to prevent said information from being spread.

Morphling

You can take DNA from other players to transform into them.

Will report Canadian.

Try to avoid being seen morphing or un-morphing. Be clever and use the power to blur timelines on when kills occur or to create distrust on where certain players were last sighted/behaving.

Lover

You gain a 'Lover' in another random player (can be two Goose, two Duck, or one Goose and one Duck). If one of you dies, the other one also dies.

If your lover gets voted out, you will die at the end of the meeting.

Be the last remaining two of three players alongside your Lover.

Assassin

Twice per game, you can kill a player during a meeting by successfully guessing their role. You die if you guess incorrectly.

Will not report Canadian on an assassination.

Can not assassinate a Gravy or regular Goose.

This can be used to narrow down threats by getting other players out. However, as it will kill you if you are incorrect, you will need to be careful and wait until you are certain before trying for an assassination.

Snitch

If you are the only vote on a player at the end of a meeting and nobody else gets voted out, that player will be sent to jail.

You can snitch on yourself.

Can not send Politician to jail.

You can attempt to jail troublesome players, such as the Sheriff, to make your job easier, or you can jail yourself and attempt false clearing to others.

Demolitionist

Plant bombs on other players to kill them. Bombs can be passed between players.

Won't report Canadian.

Try to plant a bomb when in a group of other players to avoid being singled out in suspicion. Avoid areas where you have planted bombs, as you do not want them to be returned to you.

Party

You can give other players high-pitched voice changers during meetings.

You must use your power at least once before you can vent in each round.

Use it sparingly, as the more people you give high-pitched voices to, the more it narrows you down as the Party. After planting a bomb, try to leave the area to avoid the kill being traced back to you.

Ninja

You can simultaneously kill two people within range at a time, but on a significantly longer cooldown.

Will report Canadian.

Cooldown ticks down quicker when in the fog.

Make use of hiding in the fog and striking swiftly in opportunities such as a lights sabotage. If played right, you can also use your abilities to fool other people into believing a Lovers kill or Sheriff misfire took place.

Professional

Goose players can not see bodies that you kill, and will auto-report the body once they enter range. You can't report bodies.

Goose players will be auto-kicked from tasks to report if in range.

Will not report Canadian.

Since you can't report bodies, you will want to stay far away from any kill you make or body you discover. Use the lack of vision to confuse players by killing during sabotages or when they are completing tasks.

Identity Thief

After killing someone, you immediately turn into your victim, but will re-take your normal form for meetings.

-

Do everything possible to avoid being caught/seen during your first kill. From here on, you have the shield of disguise to aid you, which makes achieving additional kills much easier.

Undertaker

You can drag bodies to move them around the map, but you have reduced movement speed during this action.

Can't drag victims of Demolitionist.

Hiding yourself and bodies is a very strong tactic for winning against the Undertaker. You can hide during lights out or in the fog and drag bodies out of view.

Serial Killer

You are assigned a random target. Killing them reduces your kill cooldown. Killing others increases your kill cooldown.

If your target dies, you will get a new one.

Kill cooldown will not reset with meetings.

Try to keep moving and not be seen hanging around your target too much prior to and following their death.

Esper

You kill from afar, over time, and can telepathically communicate with your victims before they die.

You can not perform regular instant kills.

Can kill players who are venting/hiding.

Will report Canadian.

Kills can take around 30 seconds, so be careful about communicating with victims before they die. If a meeting is called before the death takes place, they will live and now know you are the Esper, thanks to your communication.

Invisibility

You gain the ability to temporarily turn invisible, moving faster. However, in this state, you are unable to see yourself or other players.

-

Use your power sparingly, as it is a double-edged sword. Killing while invisible can lead to unseen players catching you in the act and voting you off.

Warlock

Instead of regular sabotages, gain the ability to summon locusts to one room at a time. Locusts will kill players in the swarm once it ends.

-

Locusts are most effective in closed doors, but you will need the other Goose to perform this action. Instead, prioritize regular kills and use Locusts as a bonus perk when an opportunity presents itself.

Preacher

Once per turn, you can target non-Ducks to give them an extra vote. You can see all the vote colors that are not skips.

You can not hide/vent/use the fog.

You will need to be extremely careful about giving your votes out. If a player is pointing the blame at a non-Duck, then giving them the extra ammunition can be a smart move. You can also give an extra vote to a presumed Falcon/Pelican, as they are likely to skip.

Cupid

Gain the ability to link players together. If one linked player dies, the other also will.

Canadian will not be reported if they are linked during death.

Linked players will both be able to tell that they have been linked, so choose your timing very carefully to avoid being discovered. To get around this, you can pause between linking each player or link the following rounds.

Drone

Gain the ability to transform into a drone to obscure your identity and move faster in certain areas.

Moves faster in sewers and areas of active sabotages.

You can use the drone form to hide from other players in sewers, and then strike. As it obscures your identity, killing while transformed can be beneficial.

Use your swallow ability in self-defense, or to target suspects who are most likely to be Ducks.
