A New Bob Ross Experience Is Coming To Fortnite

Somehow, I either missed the fact (or I simply forgot) that Fortnite players were introduced to the work of the painter Bob Ross via a game titled “Bob Ross Tycoon”. Since the project launched in Fortnite last August, players of the free-to-play battle royale have spent more than 120 million minutes on it. (According to calculateme.com, that’s 228.159 years.)

Now, Bob Ross, Inc. has announced the launch of Bob Ross Games, a collaboration with Chartis, which will serve as a hub for three new experiences inside Fortnite. The studio is built in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and offers players the chance to get into the world and mind of the artist by literally hopping into his landscapes. According to the press release, the project is intended to “[give] a new generation the opportunity to pretty much be Bob Ross and discover the joyful, patient, creative part of themselves”.

The project kicks off now with the launch of the first of the three titles, Joy of Painting. In this, players will be able to explore the inside of a Bob Ross landscape. That includes the happy little trees. Players will be able to use paintbrushes and special prompts that guide them to create their own art in a multiplayer environment.
