Aion 2 Will Be Less Pay-To-Win Than Lineage, According To Interview
The game is slated to launch in Korea in November.
NCSoft announced plans to show off its upcoming MMORPG Aion 2 last week, touting a livestream at 8 pm KST on May 29 (7 am for those of us in the west wanting to watch). Before the stream, however, it seems the company is getting some interviews in. In fact, an interview with the CEO offered some interesting information for players.
One of the important topics discussed in the interview, which was later shared in a YouTube video by Kanon, has to do with the game’s monetization. According to the video, NCSoft estimates that Aion 2 will bring in a quarter to a third of the revenue that Lineage 2M and Lineage W do in Korea. It’s speculated that this is due to the fact that the game will be PC only. The CEO also states that the game will feature different monetization from the Lineage offerings, which makes sense if it’s not going to be on mobile devices.
Another bit of interesting news is that the game will launch in Korea in November. For those of us in the rest of the world, the global launch is expected to be sometime around the middle of 2026.
