It’s anniversary time in Rift and this time they’re celebrating a full decade in action. In honor of the big event, the Carnival of the Ascended has returned. The four week event kicked off on the 25th with the first of four phases. The next phase will begin on April 15th, the third starts April 22nd, and the final one will get underway on April 29.

The announcement doesn’t specify what each phase consists of, but we do know that players can look forward to: new Artifact sets, a 4-hour Carnival Minion Mission, Piñata hunting, and plenty of other activities. If you want any of the new Artifact sets, plan on participating in these activities.

There’s also a new minion to obtain, the Ascended Trillian Lockwert. The minion can be acquired using its Minion Card, at which point a chain of 11 missions will be unlocked. Complete them all and gain 5 more minions as well as some other content. Level the full group of minions up to 25 and get a special title.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a birthday celebration without cake. This time, there are two cakes available. The Tenth Anniversary Cake is a callback to the Release Cake made when the game originally launched. It grants 100 Endurance as a raid consumable and also exists as a Dimensional item. The other cake is a bit more fanciful. The Fancy Celebration Cake turns everyone who consumes it into Carnival Unicorns and grants a special achievement item, the Celebration Ruff (think Elizabethan collars).
