CCP Games Offers Eve Online Players A Preview Of Changes Ahead Of Fanfest
The annual event is only seven weeks away.
Once again, Eve Online's gathering of players is almost upon us. This year, it looks like the gathering is actually going to be a gathering rather than a digital one. Woo! Before the big day arrives, CCP decided to offer players a preview of some of the things they can expect from the game in the future.
The bulk of the post addresses what the devs are referring to as a "structural and operational" update. These are major changes to the game and include things like a feature preview mode, combat balancing for Upwell structures, ship balance refinement, and more. The feature preview mode will offer players a peek at the "inner workings" of the game’s development, and allow them to offer their own feedback during the planning process. The start will be a UI unification project that will make EVE’s UI more consistent.
On the topic of balancing Upwell structures, the idea is to make gameplay more compelling for players on both sides. They also intend to reduce the cost of both building and defending the structures – meaning more players can get in on the action. At the same time, ship balance refinements continue, with both the Proteus Strategic Cruiser and Stealth Bombers getting updates to allow for more variety in play.
Finally, CCP is adding an Industrial Jump Portal Generator to improve make mining life easier. Now Rorqual will be able to jump up to 30 mining ships next to them.
