Final Fantasy XIV Housing Demolition Resumes Next Month

It’s been a bit since Final Fantasy XIV players have had to worry about losing their in-game housing by ignoring it. The generally standard feature of automatic demolition had been halted by the developers to prevent punishing players who were unable to access their housing because of server load back in December. Now that things have leveled out, they’re ready to reinstate it. Of course, this means that anyone who fails to visit their house within a certain period of time will be losing said housing and the gil they invested in it.

The good news is that players will be getting some advanced warning, just as they have in the past. Just check those emails. In addition, there will be leeway for anyone who has logged into their housing since the demolition was suspended. Effectively, those who haven’t logged in at all during the demolition suspension period will have a shorter timer than those who did. In both cases, a countdown will begin on March 9th. However, those that logged in at least once during the suspension period will have a reset timer at that point. For those who did not, the timer will begin where it left off before the suspension occurred.

What this means is that if you haven’t logged into your housing since December and don’t do so before March 9, and you had 10 days left on the timer, that’s where the timer will pick back up. However, this can be fixed by logging in anytime between now and when the demolition timer picks back up on March 9, thereby resetting it. If you’re not sure where you stand, you can check via the Timers menu. But, the best bet is just to log in before that time and avoid the issue altogether.
