Go On Three Different Adventures With This Week's EGS Offerings
This week, the Epic Games Store is offering some choices when it comes to the weekly free game. Three indie adventure titles are up for grabs, ranging from Daedalic Entertainment's The Pillars of the Earth (based on the novel by Ken Follett) to the 3rd-person exploration game where you play as a fox, The First Tree.
The first offering, a classic from Daedalic Entertainment, takes players to the trash-planet Deponia, where they'll experience things from the perspective of Rufus, a man who's ready to get off the planet. In his attempts to leave, he meets the girl of his dreams and accidentally maroons her on the planet. Now, he has to rescue her, get her back to her floating city and... perhaps take the place of her fiancé(?) Hey. It's a plan.
The second title from Daedalic, The Pillars of the Earth, is set in a small town in 12th century England where construction has begun on a cathedral. From there the village's story unfolds, weaving in the lives of a whole cast of characters through a story of war, conspiracies, and more over a period of 30 years. Players can take on the role of three different characters: an outsider, a noblewoman, and a monk.
Finally, if you're looking for something a little more relaxing, you might want to try David Wehle's The First Tree. Play as a fox and go on a journey telling two stories at once: that of the fox trying to find her family and the other of a son trying to reconnect with his father in Alaska. Along the way, the fox will uncover artifacts from the son's life.
All total, this week's offerings would normally cost about $70, with the first two being $30 each and the last $10. But, this week they're all up for grabs.
