Grab Your Hoverboards, Apex Legends’ Winter Wipeout Event Is About To Kick Off

Tomorrow (January 6), the Winter Wipeout event will kick off in Apex Legends. In addition to bringing some seasonal fun to the free-to-play shooter, the event introduces a new way to get around: the Hoverboard. Players will be able to find the hoverboard in their Survival Item slot when participating in Wildcard. It will be accessible through every respawn.

More than that, it comes with a variety of abilities such as double jumping, zipline jumps, slides, and the ability to ram your enemies if you’re going fast enough. Players can even use the hoverboard to drop from high points. And, if that’s not enough, they can use the board to complete EVO combos and earn rewards. The more tricks players can pull off in quick succession, the more rewards they’ll receive.

Players can also expect three new Wild Cards in tomorrow’s update – several others will remain in rotation. The new cards are: Brain Freeze, Love Potion, and Protective Launch. Brain Freeze causes headshots to do more damage while slowing down enemies. When Love Potion is active, potions used by a player on the team benefit nearby teammates as well. Finally, Protective Launch grants players a small shield regen when using jump pads.
