It’s a pretty awesome trailer, I’ll give it that. If you’re a fan of ARPGs then Lost Ark from Smilegate has got to be something on your radar. We don’t know very much about gameplay, level/loot grind, and other details yet (the game hasn’t even moved to a testing phase yet) but I say “radar” because a Western release isn’t for sure yet.

Lost Ark is being developed in Korea and while the team behind the project has said they are trying to appeal to a global audience in game, they don’t yet have a publisher lined up for the free-to-play title.

It’s on the table though according to Ji Won-gil, Head of Tripod Studios, in an interview with the Korea Times:

“We tried to depict a background which has both colors of western and eastern cultures to aim at the global market, we will think over how to localize detailed parts of the game to attract foreign users.”

Fingers crossed!

This looks pretty amazing, it’s got lots of flashy action, and destruction, and the hits sound and feel like they’re hitting something, and the footage looks entirely made from gameplay, not CGI. My worry: It’s Korean, they’re going to run it straight into the ground with pay to win, using all those pretty visuals to hook players in, then extort as much money as possible with as many hurdles and/or as many power levels that can’t be gained without money spent as possible.

what? as for any other games that has f2p what does korean developers have to do anything with mmo models, theres plenty of games that you can as f2p title with cash shop that doesnt hinder your gameplay that was made by.. koreans let alone 90% of the mmo market is made by the korean developers, I know its hard that you western kids need medieval armors and weapons all the time to satisfy your needs but please leave if you don’t enjoy these kind of mmo’s; it’s so simple lol
