Marvel Rivals Is “Faster Paced And Much More Accessible To New Players” Than Overwatch Says NetEase
The devs are happy to have their game compared to Blizzard’s hero shooter.
If you’re wondering how NetEase is feeling about Marvel Rivals being compared to Overwatch, they seem to be fine with it. At least, that’s what they told MP1st during a recent interview.
During the interview, MP1st noted that “Marvel Rivals will be forever compared to Overwatch,” and asked how the development team feels about it. NetEase responded by saying that they’re “honored to be compared with some of the best games out there in this genre”. That said, they believe Marvel Rivals is unique, offering players the chance to play as their “favorite Marvel characters”. The devs note that their game is “faster paced and much more accessible to new players” in addition to it putting “the hero in the hero shooter genre”.
Of course, it doesn’t matter too much what their feelings are, really. Games will always be compared to those that come before them in their genre. What really matters is whether or not the players find it fun. We'll find out in December.
