MTG Arena Innistrad Midnight Hunt

Midnight has come in Magic: The Gathering Arena -- specifically, the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt expansion set, which released in virtual form yesterday and arrives in card form one week from today, on September 24. The set's primary new feature is werewolf cards, which have two sides -- one human and one wolf -- and a day/night mechanic that facilitates their transformation.

A game starts without being either day or night, but that can change when it's day and no spells were cast on the previous turn or if it's night and two or more spells were cast on the previous turn; other cards can simply flip the day/night state on their own. Some cards have the Daybound or Nightbound keywords, and those always flip in sync with the game's day or night state.

Another new keyword in this set is Disturb, which allows you to cast a card from your graveyard for its cost. These cards are also two-sided, with the first side being something nice and pleasant, like a humble fisherman, and the reverse side being something like "Hook-Haunt Drifter." When you summon it via Disturb, it comes back on the not-so-nice side, as any "good" undead should.

Finally, there's Coven, which grants you a benefit if you have three or more cards with different powers -- meaning, the stat number before the slash, not game text -- in play.

Learn more about Innistrad: Midnight Hunt's new abilities via the blog post on the MTG Arena site, and check out a complete visual list of all the set's cards in the gallery.
