Naraka: Bladepoint Adding New Staff Weapon, Shaolin Monk Provide Motion Capture
The Shaolin-inspired weapon arrives this week.
A new weapon is being introduced to 24 Entertainment’s Narka: Bladepoint. The new Staff weapon is inspired by the Shaolin martial arts and will arrive on November 17. It’s the newest melee weapon since the introduction of the Dual Blades.
For players looking to for something that allows for a lot of movement, more than you’d get with a spear, the Staff is definitely going to be something they’ll want to try out. It promises to be a pretty popular weapon, seeing as players have been asking about it for a while now.
To ensure the feel of the Staff was just right, the development team actually invited a Shaolin monk to their headquarters to help them with motion capture. They were able to record a variety of moves including sweeps, thrusts, and more. From there it was a matter of getting it to work in-game. Players should have an experience as close to the real thing as possible in a video game. Those interested can watch the monk in action in the developer video below.
