Animated movies based on video games aren’t unheard of, especially when they’re Asian made games. For example, Square Enix loves making them for Final Fantasy. So, perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised by NetEase’s announcement of a Revelation Online movie.

According to 2p, the company announced the film at its annual festival, stating that it will be released in China some time next year. Of course, no English version has been announced as yet. But Revelation Online fans can always hold out hope.

  1. MMOs becoming movies on December 31, 2016

Wow almost every MMO I know is becoming a movie now. I’m probably wrong but is it a movie for the movie industry or just a project they are working on to hype up the game?

The story in Revelation Online is surprisingly good, I like it much better than what I’ve seen in Final Fantasy games I’ve played (7, 8, 9, 10, 12). So it makes sense for them to make a movie. Not sure if I like the graphics in the trailer though, they’re pretty much what (infrequent) cinematics in-game look like.

But the game play sucks – there are both those horrid wings and useless mounts (whose purpose is defeated by the existence of wings).
