Untamed Isles Announcement

Monster-catching game fans are going to be rolling in content soon. Following the launch of Chimeraland, another developer – Phat Loot Studios out of New Zealand, announced their own monster hunting and taming MMORPG. A turn-based offering, Untamed Isles features a rock/paper/scissors combat style. When using their monsters (Tames) in combat, players will have to remember that Defense beats Attack, Attack beats Utility, and Utility beats Defense. They’ll also have to be aware of different mechanics like Move Speed and Stacking.

The mechanics aren’t the only thing that make the game stand out from other open-world-ish monster-catching games. The game will also boast more than a million creatures during launch, with more on the way. The creatures are broken into ten base species on each explorable isle, with heads, front legs, back legs, torso, and tail being randomly mixed to create different combinations. The creature builds are also affected by fifteen “mood types”. Those have an impact on each creature's coloring and combat type. There are also some very rare Gemborne and Alpha variations.

On the social front, because it is a social game, Untamed Isles is different from most other monster-catching games in that it will include proximity-based voice chat. A rundown of the game’s features is available in the press release. Those interested can see a bit of it in action in the video below.
