Grinding Gear Games’ big day is finally here. Later today, at Noon Pacific, Path of Exile: The Awakening will launch and open the doors to all the ARPG faithful out there. Path of Exile: The Awakening is more than just Path of Exile’s fourth act – it improves and expands upon every aspect of the game. With a crazy new twist on the iconic Passive Skill Tree and numerous systems changes, this expansion has been internally dubbed Path of Exile Version 2.0.0. The Awakening completely changes the Path of Exile experience and includes new items, monsters, maps, skills, and many quality of life improvements suggested by the Path of Exile community.

If you haven’t played in the update’s beta at all, here’s just a sneak peek at what you can look forward to when you jump in game:

  • Act IV Is Here! Act IV continues Path of Exile’s storyline. The time has finally come to venture into the center of corruption itself and drive a blade through its black heart.
  • Explore Beyond Highgate: For the first time since launch, The Awakening introduces completely new areas, monsters and end-game maps to expand the world of Wraeclast.
  • Defeat Legendary Bosses: Experience climactic boss encounters with characters from Wraeclast’s past such as Shavronne, Doedre, Malachai and many more.
  • Powerful New Skill Gems: With new classes of skills such as elemental Golems that fight by your side, warcries and several new support gems, players are able to create new clever and intricate builds.
  • Socketable Passive Tree: Collect and craft Jewels that can be socketed into the Passive Tree to drastically change the tree itself.
  • Masses of New Gear: Find more than 110 new Unique Items and discover an entirely new set of equipment, the Maraketh Weapons.
  • User Experience Improvements: Extensive user interface improvements, added more customization options and implemented many community-suggested changes.

    1. So what annoyed me was that I got to the last boss. I did two of the organs, and did the third organ, then I had a little break(I’d played for hours and hours). I had the WP anyway, so I gave Piety all organs, and you know what? It seemed to bug out, because I couldn’t enter the mouth to Black Core, and my quest was Enter the Black Core. So I asked around, and they told me I had to do all guardians again, and NOT take a break(else the instance resets). And I was like, f*c that, fuck this game. Stupid way of implementing it, I loved the expantion until the last boss(I think it’s last at least). I’m not returning to do him, f*c GGG,

A few years ago I was really excited about this game since it looked kinda scary like Diablo I and II used to, and the skill tree is amazing, but then I kinda got bored with it, I might check it out after some time, although other games are in my priority list. And I’m not saying it’s a bad game, it’s actually a pretty good one.

      • You should definitely do, i was the same (was in the closed beta too).
        Then after being away from it for at least a year or maybe even 2, i started playing it in June and i was amazed how polished and fluent it became.
        Now the new gem/jewel system added to the talent tree + and a full new act should make it even better if not amazing.

        • Well, I’ve recently bought The Elder Scrolls Online, so all my focus is in there now, I literally play 15+ hours a day.

      • I would definitely give it a shot now, so much new stuff, and one of the biggest issues in the game (desync) is supposedly fixed entirely now.
