GGG Introduces A Renown System To Path Of Exile’s Mercenaries League
Defeating Mercenaries earns renown, losing or backing down costs renown.
Grinding Gear Games has decided to give a little more oomph to the Mercenary league in Path of Exile. Since revealing the F2P action RPG’s Secrets of the Atlas update last week, the developer has continued work on the league, adding a Renown system. The system described is pretty simple. If you defeat Mercenaries, you earn Renown with the Trarthan arrivals. However, losing to them or just straight up bailing on the fight will result in a loss of renown.
Basically, if you lose or bail, the Mercenaries are going to gossip about you, and that will knock your renown back down a notch. So, even if you have to back out initially, come back and beat that guy, or he’ll just start spreading rumors.
The more renown a player earns, the greater their likelihood of running into Infamous Mercenaries. These are tougher Mercenaries, but with better loot. I guess the gossip works both ways, and if you’re good enough, these guys want to challenge you. A full rundown of the system is available in the video below
