Season 1 Comes To World Of Warcraft's The War Within Today Adding The Expansion's 1st Raid, Mythic Dungeons, & New Delve Difficulty
Now the gearing up REALLY begins.
While "technically" the race to world first started when World of Warcraft's The War Within launched, there was little for the MMORPG's top tier guilds to be doing besides some initial unlocking and materials/consumables gathering. This was largely due to the way Blizzard decided to time-gate many features over the first few weeks after launch. Sure, you could gear up a little bit using heroic difficulty dungeons, delves, and world quests, but that was very limited and the gear would be tossed pretty quickly in favor of mythic dungeon gear.
What you could farm up a bit were the multiple stones needed for gear upgrading though, so guilds did have SOME homework they were doing.
Today's launch of Season 1 is where the real homework begins. When Season 1 starts later today, the real gearing-up also starts. With world bosses, higher delve difficulty, Mythic dungeons (Mythic+ is next week), and the expansion's first raid dropping, it's time to get geared up. The Mythic version of the Nerub-ar Palace raid opens just one week from now on the 17th. If you're a little more casual, the 17th is also when the raid's story mode opens.
The schedule over the next few weeks looks like this:
PvP players get the new arena and battleground season and a rated battlegrounds solo queue.
As we get ready for today's unlock, don't forget to check out everything the MMO is doing to celebrate their 20th anniversary including the return of Tier 2 gear, a new Blackrock Depths raid, Evokers getting new classes, and so much more. The event is a full patch, not just an update.
Also of note, there's a video reveal scheduled for later this week showing off an Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft collaboration. You can watch that when it premires on YouTube in 3 days.
