Start Working On Your 2025 Elder Scrolls Online Morphing Collectible And Peek At The "Seasonal" Plan In A Stream Tomorrow
We don't expect a full global reveal until April still, but we will get a look at Update 45.
Just as 2025 was coming to a close, we got our first announcement regarding how the future of MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online will play out. Rather than focus on a single new chapter release each year as the company has done since the release of Morrowind in 2017, future content releases will be smaller and more "seasonal" in structure. Most will feature new stories in existing zones, with the occasional new zone added over multiple updates in a year rather than one big content drop.
We're still awaiting more information on exactly how seasons will work, how they'll be monetized, and what exactly players can expect content wise, but we aren't going to get that full reveal until the April 2025 showcase the team has planned.
That said, the team will be going live on Twitch tomorrow, January 9th, at 2 PM EST to start revealing the 2025 plans for base-game Update 45 and a little peek at the first dungeon DLC planned for the year. What exactly the team may say about the new development plans will certainly be interesting. The team claims this plan makes things more flexible and future content experiments can happen where they couldn't in the past, but fans like myself are skeptical to say the least.
While you watch the stream, you can get started on the annual Morphing Collectible on offer for 2025. You'll have all year to gather up three items from the Impresario during events this year and use those items to create the Stonewisp of Truth and Law.
Here's a handy guide if you need a refresher on how events work in ESO to help you catch up.
