WAVEN, A F2P Multiplayer Tactical RPG, Coming In 2023 From The Developers Of WAKFU
The world is flooded and its up to you to find out why.
Ankama, the developer behind DOFUS and WAKFU, has officially announced their next game. It is called WAVEN and it's set in a flooded world where players sail from island to island seeking adventure.
Last week I took part in a press event where the devs showed off WAVEN for the first time. The islands were varied and the enemies were unique. The devs took us from island to island showing off the world and mechanics. There was a dark and spooky island where skeletons roamed, a bright colorful island full of pig people, a majestic kingdom of knights, and many more islands to explore. There's quite a bit of humor spread throughout the game from punny names to little jokes told throughout, which was a charming touch.
Players take on the role of an adventurer who sails from island to island, collecting items and upgrading their spells and companions. The companions can be summoned and assist you in combat, while your spell choice decides the way you want to fight your enemies. WAVEN can be played solo or with friends. It combines tactical RPG mechanics with deckbuilding and item collection.
WAVEN will hit Early Access this summer with a launch scheduled for late 2023. It will be available for Windows PC, Macs, iOS, and Android.
Check out the reveal trailer for WAVEN below. You can also sign up for the game's newsletter on the official site.
