In the end, Jedi were no match for space ninjas.

Throughout the Free-To-Play World Cup, we’d seen fairly low vote totals for each contest. We’d thought that by @mentioning the games in the polls that some accounts might retweet them and garner additional support for their games. That didn’t happen, though — until the final round.

The winning margin, 96% to 4%, was the highest we’d seen in any of our contests, and the votes cast were just as gargantuan: 17,696. No other poll had even cracked quadruple digits, yet Warframe fans, it seemed, took up the challenge and sliced through Star Wars: The Old Republic like a hot katana through a ewok.

SWTOR fans, take heart: 4% of 17,696 is still 708, which would have been plenty to win any other matchup in the F2P World Cup. And Warframe fans, don’t get too cocky about your victory … what was that someone said about being struck down and then becoming more powerful than you could possibly imagine?

Congratulations to Warframe for taking the title, to Star Wars: The Old Republic for making it to the finals, and to all the other games, and their fans who voted throughout the contest!

  1. I don’t know if it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else experiencing issues with your website. It appears as though some of the written text in your content are running off the screen. Can someone else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them as well? This may be a problem with my web browser because I’ve had this happen before. Appreciate it

  2. This is a good tip particularly to those fresh to the blogosphere. Brief but very accurate info… Many thanks for sharing this one. A must read post!

  3. Congrats to Warframe! One of the best space ninja game ever made! F2p, never get bored of it, awesome community.

  4. Swtor is free to play but they implemented level restrictions for free users and restrictions for certain gears when it’s important in pvp which sucks they made the game unbearably unbalanced. Even when some says it’s a “free to play” category and not being actually a “demo” it’s still gonna lose because of player support from devs which they constantly ignore where warframe listens to their players more. Swtor is basically a cash grab game.

  5. Warframe, has a terrible PVP mode and a boring end game. But it’s still the best MMORPG F2P I’ve played.
    Congratulations to the winner!

  6. The final battle shouldn’t have been SWTOR vs Warframe. Path of Exile vs Warframe seemed like a more likely matchup. SWTOR having gone to the finals was surprising, not in a good way.

    • You cant call swtor f2p model. Is a trial, just a demo. You cant do nothing with lvl 50 cause most of people dont stop at lvl 50.

And you have to check the new champions online offer who gives you a premium pack at 1500 zens. Unlocking most of the premium options forever except the Freeform.

  7. How will be swtor a problem for warframe? Swtor is trial mode and warframe is f2p. Swtor limited level to 50 while cap actually if paying is 65 or 70 cant remember. With this you arent f2p is like call f2p World of warcraft with lvl 20 cap for people who try to play free. So swtor never will win none.

  8. Not much of hurdle when the majority of F2P’s are garbage. I still don’t understand why everyone is occultist like when it comes to Warframe. It’s boring with trash mobs as bad as Vindictus probably worse because you see people just run through the dungeon in most streams. The pointless repetitiveness just has me dumb founded into why any would waste their time on such a game.

    Yes, congratulation Warframe. (slow clap)

    • And what do you mean by the majority? Most pay to play games are terrible than f2p games. Plus you are judging the game just by watching other people play. Which means you have barely or never played it all.

      • On the contrary I have 203 hrs spent on warframe. Nor do I think it even takes 2 hrs to realize how repetitive and boring the game is. And from the look of it the game has not change much. Which it will never will because the core is just dull and dense.

    • Then it just mean warframe isnt for you. A lot of people will love warframe and a lot of people will hate it. If warframe fits a
u, then u will not get bored.

      • I actually use to like Warframe but when I realized how little teamwork there was and how bad the A.I. was… I had to put it down. Anyone that loves this game I will just say, good for them. And I will leave it at that before things get ugly.

    • Well, Warframe’s genre is kind of niche (even though there seems to be too many players for that…). It’s one of the few MMO shooters that is PvE-based that is actually good. I love shooters (PUBG, Fortnite, Halo, Mass Effect, Call of Duty, GunZ, etc, etc), but I’ve always hated the PvP aspect of it. Warframe then becomes perfect for players like me.

    • Warframe is the kind of game that only gets legit fun at higher levels, when u do 3h endurance runs on endless missions and need to kill enemies to stay on the mission for longer. But to get there, it’s a long and hard grind. I took 1.6k+ hours just to get to where I am and I’m about an early to middle, nearer to middle, level player, able to handle up to 1h runs tops before having to retreat due to too hard-to-kill enemies. Another thing that is the usually in app purchase only currency most games have (Platinum in Warframe’s case) can be obtained through grinding through the game and selling the items you get to other players and in the Warframe trading system, Platinum is the standard currency to use. So it’s bit hard to get exclusive credit if you play the the enough. But for me, it’s selling point was the hours of mindless grinding you can he get from the game for destrsss

    • “boring” Get out of here. You must not realize how much content is in Warframe. It’s the reason why most MMO/Paid shooter’s RPG’s are dying is because of Warframe. Once you get into the game you will notice the customization of gun’s, Warframe’s, pet’s and etc. There’s so much free-will with how you want to play game ( Also it’s easy to catch up to veteran players with the right help)

      • Doesn’t matter how much content is put into the game if the core is dull and repetitive. Sounds to me you described the same game I played 3 years ago.

And whatever “shooters/mmo’s have died from Warframe” were probably outed due to several other factors. Unless you have undeniable proof I will have to remain skeptical of that statement.

My evidence, Counter strike had peak 386,955 and 161, 149 playing right now. Warframe 76,373 online and 98,463 peak. So yeah…it’s not killing anything. If I were to theorize I’d say Warframe is more likely to die before Counter-strike. And CS is more likely to die before PUBG.
