Love It Or Hate It: Dota 2

Dota-2-Wraith-Night

Some free-to-play games are more polarizing than others, with some sides taking the stance of "great, totally non-exploitative implementation" and others thinking "total pay-to-win trash." We'd like to see on what side of the spectrum the gaming public -- and by that, we mean you guys -- think of certain F2P games, and so we've invented something new called Love It Or Hate It?

Every week, we'll present a new F2P game and give you the option of passing judgment on it. Then we'll look back at it the next week and see what people thought. There are no prizes, except for the satisfaction of knowing you clicked on a button and made something happen. Really, what else do you need?

Last time, we asked you to pass judgment on Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, which got a reasonable thumbs-up from you guys. 40% voted to love it, while only 17% voted to hate it and 43% gave a noncommittal "meh." For a game lots of people describe as "pay-to-win" -- well, people who've never played a CCG before, I guess -- that's a bit surprising.

This week's game is something a little more generally loved by the public, Valve's Dota 2. It's a huge success, but while Hearthstone doesn't have a whole lot in terms of direct competition, MOBA loyalty is fierce -- assuming you want to even use the term "MOBA" in the first place.

Pros: Great competitive atmosphere, strong developer behind it. Also, it's not League of Legends.
Cons: Too hardcore for some players, the usual MOBA toxicity, and... well, it's not League of Legends

So what do you think? Yea or nay for Dota 2? As always, feel free to leave a comment to let us know why you voted the way you did!

Cant take these polls serious. I can vote not logged in.
Hearth is p2w garbage with worse community than lol. Go forums....

LoL is plagued by bots in EU. An exploit to farm losung exp. Riots hiding it. Nut 1/3 match is bot infested (u know if u seen it. Player "gdruhg" running in straight line. No chat. And casts 1 attack. And other noticible pathing software glitch outs).

Dota2 ... I can feel life force sucked our by this game. I love life and GF, no casual mode = get rekt.

Dota 2 will always be a harder and more complicated game than any other MOBA(currently), the meta/builds/skill builds/team compositions/laning/orb effects/jungle stacking/etc. There are 2 many things that will affect the odds of you winning, unlike league. My question is, why play a simplified version of dota when you can have a bigger immersion with dota 2? Might as well just play HOTS instead of league. Besides, isn't league community filled with high and middle schoolers? Yea... no thanks, I stay with my doto .

Lol I like that you put the same thing about League of Legends as a pro and con cause it's the truth, If you are a League fan it would be a con while if you are a Dota 2 fan it would be a pro.

I don't like the actual game.

What I DO like is the fact they're putting in WC3-style custom games, and that will catapult it to being my favorite game of all time, well, behind WC3.

In terms of actual moba gameplay I prefer league.

So how is it not being league of legends count as a plausible con?
