Apex Legends Launching On Nintendo Switch 2 With The Release Of The Showdown Update
The update also introduces new Outlands content, Ranked drop zones, and more.
Apex Legends’ latest update, “Showdown”, introduces a good deal of new content to the F2P shooter. It updates classic Legends, making Caustic’s gas more deadly and adding a new Legend Upgrade tree for Bangalore. It also introduces three new Outlands additions: Elite Weapons, Legend Amps, and Locked Hop-Ups.
In addition, the game adds new drop zones to ranked matches that spread squads out automatically in order to make matches faster and fairer. Don’t worry, loot distribution has been adjusted to accommodate.
Two completely new additions to the game include a new cosmetic option: Auras, and a sort of reward system, Accolades. Auras are visible in various areas in the game when equipped. Every player who has access to Ranked is guaranteed to get the “Ascension Crest” Aura just for logging in following Showdown’s release.
As for Accolades, this is a way to recognize players for their accomplishments in matches. This includes things like pulling off difficult moves, and they can be earned in several modes. Each mode will track Accolades separately, with each Accolade type having four tiers. Once a match is complete, players will be shown a summary of their Accolades. As an added bonus, these award XP. However, there’s a cap of 2200XP per day.
On an additional note, the Showdown update also brings Apex Legends to the Nintendo Switch 2. Players who log into the game on the Switch 2 before September 16 will receive the “P.A.T.H.” Pathfinder Skin. Note that the Switch 2 version will require an EA account.
