Black Desert Online Summer Event Otters

Today, a new war begins in Black Desert Online. Part of the game’s summer event, the Red Battlefield: Sand Castle Shore-down, pits two sets of furry warriors against each other in a beach setting. When players sign up to participate in this 30v30 deathmatch battle, they’ll be randomly assigned to Team Papu or Team Otter. (These aren’t team mascots, players will be playing as a Papu or an Otter.)

Not only will the team assignments be random, but so will the player’s role on the team. Those of you who may like sticking to one class type might want to brush up a bit and make sure you’re ready to take on Warrior, Caster, or Healer. It shouldn’t be too difficult however as there will only be three abilities to deal with: a basic attack, a strong attack that consumes one Rage, and a special attack that consumes two Anger. The latter two also use “a certain amount” of stamina, so just make good decisions on when to use these abilities.

As with any battle of this type, the real reason to take part is the rewards. Whether a team wins or loses, they will receive rewards, but that’s not a good reason to accept defeat. If you do, you’ll receive less than half the Battlefield Tokens of the winning team and 4 million less silver.

In addition to the PvP – which players can take part in until August 24 – players can also take on a daily quest to earn Terrmian Special Cons and a Terrmian Gift Box. The event can be completed once a week per family and will be available for the first time tomorrow, August 4.

There’s also another Papu and Otter-related quest. This one, however, allows players to pick their side. They don’t have to stay loyal, though. Every Thursday, during the duration of the event, players will need to choose a side again. Completing the weekly operation for either side earns players Contribution XP. Oh, and yes, this part of the event does require turning into a critter again. Full details on how this event, as well as the others, works are available on the BDO site.
